Best torrent programme?

What's the best torrent downloader these days? I'm looking for something simple, elegant and not riddled with spyware. Been using Ares (the sourceforge version) for quite some time but I'm getting annoyed with it as it seems no matter what settings I try it always slows the system to a crawl when it's loaded up - even if it's hardly pulling in any bandwidth.

Yeah yeah! The best!

Oh, and DIDI: torrents are the best --- and torrents are for things not easy to get :) ;)

Re: Best torrent programme?

Usually things that are not easy to get are unauthorised or illegal ;)

Re: Best torrent programme?

Yeah DIDI, that's the sober truth. Actually don't even use torrents anymore these days; am part of a student collective (partnered with Microsoft) at my college where we get great discounts on software, thankfully. Also, http://www.journeyed.com/ if you're taking some classes anywhere. Great site.

i think you`re wrong...first,many torrent websites do not allow illegal material..(i can give many examples)...second,not everything is so easy to get...for example,on tribalmixes you can download Megapacks, like Hernan Cattaneo (metro 2003-2008 ) ,Hernan all time live sets,,,Martin Garcia all time journey on metro...Moshic(all time sets) Deep Mariano & alot of others, just by one click..no need to download every one seperately & take alot of ur time..thats a quick example of torrent website benefits...u should try this & give ur opinion...

2nded if you just want something lightweight and very good.

Of course the best thing to do is to install something like deluge or transmission on your NAS that you access through a webinterface from anywheres.... ;)

Also certain things are just easier with torrents ;) Like I have a rocks cluster and it uses torrents to internally distribute data, I'm sure that's the kind of thing people are talking about

I'm not wrong . I went looking for illegal downloads just recently and most of the sites I found them on were torrent sites that wouldn't let me report oir contact until I signed up ??? There may be some that don't have illegal content but the mere way that they operate encourages illegal downloads. Which just gives the big recording companies etc more ammunition to shut us all down.

I don't want to do what you describe. Why do I want to try it when what I already have is what I want ?? I already have access to all the things you are pushing there and don't want to download mega packs anyway. What a waste of bandwidth ! I'm a bit choosier than that.:) And I have been downloading them for years :)

Btw Downloading doesn't take any of my time, I click and go do something else.
