a bit from the article:
Have you ever sent out a “tweet” on the popular Twitter social media service? Congratulations: Your 140 characters or less will now be housed in the Library of Congress. That’s right. Every public tweet, ever, since Twitter’s inception in March 2006, will be archived digitally at the Library of Congress. That’s a LOT of tweets, by the way: Twitter processes more than 50 million tweets every day, with the total numbering in the billions.
This is why I keep my facebook and twitter crap set to private.

I keep my facebook private, but leave my tweets public -- all of my tweets go to facebook, but my facebook posts do not go to twitter -- and I just keep that in mind in determining what I post where. 99% of my tweets are pithy little throwaway things anyway -- I'm stunned at some of the highly personal things people post on there...

^yup exactly. I am even a bit weary about posting on here and twitter even and facebook because many places before they hire you google your name and try and get into facebook to see if you've been talking about doing lines and getting drunk all week, and see what kind of pics you have out there of you and your friends getting drunk.

I just don't get it, first we all complain about Invasion of privacy and then we all post highly personal data on Facebook and Twitter.... honestly!

Aliens scan the LoC to pick up language. They arrive on the planet, then start shouting "bitly bitly" "twitpic" at people:?:
