Anyone install this yet? Any notable (visual/feature) improvements??

Firefox 3.6 (RC2)
Re: Firefox 3.6 (RC2)
I've given up on Firefox and moved to Opera. Firefox takes ages to load up and is such a resource hog.
Re: Firefox 3.6 (RC2)
Unfortunately I have been having a repeat issue with FF where it's becoming an insane memory hog. I cant type this post without the cursor getting stuck words behind and then suddenly catching up to where I've actually typed.
Re: Firefox 3.6 (RC2)
Same as. Also when I'm typing in URL's. Opera does everything pretty much instantly.
Re: Firefox 3.6 (RC2)
Havn't been having any memory issues with FF but the last few releases seem to just hang for no reason and say not responding in the top bar then sort themselves out again. I have also been having a lot more crashes where it will just close without warning, it does always seem to restore the tabs though so it isnt too bad.
Re: Firefox 3.6 (RC2)
I have a problem were all my history gets deleted every time I close it. The history I have is about 5 months old I don´t know how to fix this and it´s driving me nuts!

this is driving me insane. I've just given up on FF until the next release is out. I'm tired of my browser crashing 5 times a day and slowing down like a mofo.
Using Lunascape6 until 3.6 is officially out.

might be this simple:
Firefox>Preferences>PrivateData - uncheck "Always clear my private data when I close firefox"

A friend of mine has exactly the same issues. For me it works without any crashes so far, but I installed the sessions manager addon just in case.
Well the fucking memory hog still exists and this happens to me after I leave a firefox session open with more than 80-100 tabs open...
Opera works without such issues, but unfortunately it does not support the variety of plugins present for firefox.
PS: :There is also a 3.7Alpha version which is claimed to be quicker than ever. I will try to find a leaked valid link for that and I hope this story is not a hoax BS or something...
Re: Firefox 3.6 (RC2)
Not really digging Avant (even though download.com has it listed as being the most downloaded browser - even more than FF).
Trying Opera now!
Re: Firefox 3.6 (RC2)
totally digging opera, although I'm not a big fan of the default font
Re: Firefox 3.6 (RC2)
Took me a few days to adjust but once there I hardly load Firefox up for anything now. There are a few features I miss. But love having the speed dial load up as my start page.
PS. Looks a hell of a lot nicer on Windows 7. ;)
Re: Firefox 3.6 (RC2)
i used to have problem with FF where it kept crashing on me for no apparent reason but the problem went away when i upgraded it to 3.5
Re: Firefox 3.6 (RC2)
version 3.6 is due out today and it hopefully fixes my problems.
Re: Firefox 3.6 (RC2)
3.6 stable just got released. running it right now to see how it handles itself for the next few hours.
Re: Firefox 3.6 (RC2)
Yeah I had a bunch of those same problems with me 3.5.6 looking forward to them fixing some of these problems. And yeah it really does take a long time to load up. But I'd miss all those wonderful add-ons if I went with another browser.
Re: Firefox 3.6 (RC2)
Have you guys tried running FF with a clean profile? I hardly experience any of these memory issues and slow downs.
Are you keeping too many tabs open? Is your unclose-tab history set to too high?
Re: Firefox 3.6 (RC2)
Must admit 3.6 loads up a lot faster and I can type something into the url bar almost immediately without issue. So far, so good. Still prefer Opera now I'm used to it. Plus it got a 0 for tests incomplete on the acid3 test and did it 0.54s
Re: Firefox 3.6 (RC2)
uggggggggh 3.6 crashed on me again. back to opera :(
Re: Firefox 3.6 (RC2)
3.6 works fine for me so far only thing is that 2 of my favorite plug-ins are not updated and are disabled :(
Sage-Too and Auto-Copy
Re: Firefox 3.6 (RC2)
i uploaded the new version earlier today and seems to be workin much smoother, had been freezin up and not responding quite a bit but that seems to have gone - for now anyway
Re: Firefox 3.6 (RC2)
Been using 3.6 since yesterday and am liking it. I like how the new tabs open up right beside the page you just clicked from. And yeah it is quicker to load than 3.5.6 that I was using before. They already came up with updates to some of the add-ons I use.
I also notice my fan isn't kicking on as much. But that could also be due to all the HD space I rectified.

I didn't know it's a new feature? I've always used Tab Mix Plus which enables that and more, might want to give that a try.
Re: Firefox 3.6 (RC2)
Or What about FF Shiretoko?

Fresh Firefox install about the end of November when formatted my machine, only use 3 add ons. Seemed fine then it just crashed randomly but it always used to restore the tabs. Stopped restoring the tabs properly over the last week so i have fucked it off for Opera now which i must add, is seeming a lot better browser at the moment.
Re: Firefox 3.6 (RC2)
I've so far only had FF 3.6 crash on me once since installing the beta version. Just waiting for the full 3.6 to come out.
Re: Firefox 3.6 (RC2)
Bah went back to safari much faster and not such a memory hog. Haven´t tried opera. What´s so cool about it?
Re: Firefox 3.6 (RC2)
still using 3.5.7 ... I use firefox for everything except streaming... in which case it lags terribly. I use safari for streaming video instead.
Re: Firefox 3.6 (RC2)
REALLY can't wait until the real release of 3.6 for FF, as they MIGHT fix the problem I have been having almost anytime I wanna download something using download helper, or choosing to upload a photo on a site, the damn thing crashes on me. This is the last time I download a beta version.
As for memory hogs. I've found they all seem to be the same these days. I've always got multiple tabs opened and when you get to around 3 of them open, the program is already up to 250K. I just want something that WORKS.
Re: Firefox 3.6 (RC2)
Ummmm, Firefox 3.6 has been out for a while now.
Re: Firefox 3.6 (RC2)
when I first downloaded it, it was in Beta versions. It didn't come back and tell me when the real version came out.
Re: Firefox 3.6 (RC2)
even Opera started giving me shit :evil::evil::evil::evil::evil:
I went back to FF, disabled ALL add-ons and so far so good. no memory problems and appears to stay stable. let's hope it continues to behave.
Re: Firefox 3.6 (RC2)
K, you using a windows machine bro? I've found that lately I can't go through any downloads with my Win machine without FF or Safari crapping out on me. But alas, the FF in my Mac is working swimmingly.
