Did anyone try the new beta? I couldn't get video to load on any of my MKVs but for TV Shows, it looks like a weener

Re: Boxee

Tried it a couple weeks back, started stalling a bit on me. Wasn't too impressed, especially since I was expecting so much more. I like the interface however I'm now leaning towards installing XMBC on my pc and using that instead.

I will give it another go when an update has been released.

Re: Boxee

i like the widgets integration and such, like being able to use pandora easily on my tv and home system, but the damn thing crashes still on me like crazy like it did when i installed the alpha a few months ago.

i had it scan some of my movies and it id'd them incorrectly and i dont see any option to correct that. i think im still sticking with my aeonproject skin on top of xbmc b/c it is till sooo pretty and the stable build ive had has been rock solid for 6 months now.

i really do like the social side of the boxee setup though, i think it would be cool if you had friends on here to see what they can send you etc, and to easily be able to watch youtube and hulu is worth messing with by itself.

Re: Boxee

ditto, I guess before I make an official switch to Boxee, I'm gonna wait until a stable release is out and it works well on my test box. I'm just too in love with media center to make any drastic changes right now.

True, however very good for a few older peeps in my family (who don't have cable). I think they would love it.

Re: Boxee

Ok so I made the official switch to Boxee, got it installed and running on my HTPC and love it. I find it much easier to use than xbmc.

I tinkered around with xbmc for quite a while before (all though I still do love the visuals and interface) I gave up on it.

Re: Boxee

I've been playing with the boxee software for the last year or so, and have been trying to convince myself to buy a box and make the switch so I can cancel my cable. Now the box is available for $100 at http://mobile.dailysteals.com :)

I'm buying it. For $125, it's worth it to have a new gadget imo

dusk, do you still use yours? what are your one-year-later thoughts?

Re: Boxee

That would be the ultimate media center if it had a OS with descent hardware in it that would allow you to play STEAM games/Multitask.

Sorry for the late reply mate.... and yes one year later it is still the bomb. I have no regrets about cancelling my cable at all.

Re: Boxee

So I've updated to the new Boxee beta v. 1.5 and for the life of me... cannot get any of the font to show. I have tried replacing the boxee.tff font with a generic.tff file as suggested on a google find... but still no luck.

If anyone one has any suggestions would greatly appreciate it... was so looking forward to the update :(

Re: Boxee

I've been trying very hard to restrain myself from upgrading to the beta. I keep telling myself it's less than a month away so i wouldn't have the issues you are.

I've done a factory reset on my girlfriend's Boxee and it went smoothly. All of her subscriptions, favorites, and queue were retained. I recommend it
