Re: Expansion hardrive ?

Is it for your desktop computer or for a laptop?

External HDs are slower than internal and they are a bit more expensive. Only get external if you need to move tons of data, if not id say internal.

Seagate is a good brand go for it.

Re: Expansion hardrive ?

Btw before you plonk the cash for it, can you tell me

  • where you got the $89 deal?
  • what are you using it for?

The reason I ask is because if you use it as an external storage device for "media" (video) delivery, you won't be happy with the results of USB 2.0 (speaking from first hand experience)

x2. I used to use USB 2.0 and switched to Firewire.

Re: Expansion hardrive ?

With EVERYTHING moving to 720P (and higher), eSata is the way ahead.

Re: Expansion hardrive ?

am going to use for storage ie back up of existing data (to have in 2 places at same time! aka proper backup). but not to play the media specifically.

still acceptable?

deal is at Frys electronics - until tomorrow (there is a store v. close to me)

Re: Expansion hardrive ?

Jenks tipped me off when he posted the Seagate clearance special thread awhile ago, and I purchased another 1 TB 3.5 Internal SATA with that limited clearance special. Just installed it in another external hard-drive casing I got from Fry's yesterday, and it's working smooth for my deejaying purposes; I recommend doing it this way. Hope you find what you need Hugz.

always go WD, in general, they have a higher stability rate than seagate.
