The upcoming version of the Droid with Android 2.0 is definitely one to keep your eye open for (coming out on Verizon).

Here's a pretty decent video of it

Re: Motorola Droid vs. iPhone 3GS

I have played with the Droid and like it a lot, hope to get one as soon as my contract is up in Dec. The keyboard, while taking a few minutes to get used to, is a a nice feature to still have.

Re: Motorola Droid vs. iPhone 3GS

I've got Sprint and am trying to decide between the HTC Hero and the Samsung Moment, both Android phones. After playing around with them, I think the iPhone may actually have some real competition for the first time since it arrived.

Re: Motorola Droid vs. iPhone 3GS

From what I've seen of the HTC offering, I really like. I'm still kind of biased against Motorola and a big Nokia fanboy, but I'm also really interested to see what Samsung can do with the platform.

Iphone still of no interest to me.... :p

Re: Motorola Droid vs. iPhone 3GS

Been following Android and people are raising concerns that because it's open source, Android is being customised by different makers for different hardware which might lead to a proliferation like the *nix community, which may or may not hamper the development of apps.

What's holding me back on the Android is waiting for the apps eco system to take off, and frankly most of the hardware Android runs on just doesn't look as appealing as the iPhone ... maybe someone should stick the Android OS onto the iPhone casing.

Is the droid phones service fee from the video also $150 a month?

I think the data plan on Verizon is $45/Month and $39.99 a month for 400 minutes. Taxes extra. But FTC is being pushed to probe why Verizon has decided to bump the ETF to $350 when Blackberry customers decide to depart early.

Re: Motorola Droid vs. iPhone 3GS

One year ago I ended up buying a Samsung Omnia with Windows mobile. Very very very Awful phone/experience.

I just got my hands now on an iPhone to use for a few weeks and its excellent in all aspects: ease of use, apps, screen, music, integrations. I now use the Omnia as a sat nav in my car (a very expensive sat nav)!

Android phones have a lot to live up to!

Re: Motorola Droid vs. iPhone 3GS

i just got a droid monday. so far i like it although i'm not a big fan of the touch screen when you have to type on it. the data plan is $30/month for unlimited use and i got 450 min + 500 texts for $39/month. not a bad deal if you ask me.

Re: Motorola Droid vs. iPhone 3GS

The HTC Hero is also worth a look. Also Android-based but thinner and with better battery life than the Droid... Can't recommend it more highly !!!
