I've had a nightmare of a week with FF. It's constantly corrupting my cookies, can't load gmail (goes into an endless loop), cant access a lot of portions of ms, few other cookie heavy sites I visit. Short of losing all my favs, passwords, logins etc. and getting starting from scratch, I just think I'm going to roll back to IE.

I'm getting close to sacking FF for good
Re: I'm getting close to sacking FF for good
first install xmarks (or foxmarks, whatever it's called)
then create a new FF profile
Re: I'm getting close to sacking FF for good
chrome :)
Re: I'm getting close to sacking FF for good
Iv had probs with ff since they updated to 3.012 the other day but it seems to have sorted itself out now.

you want the world's largest data-miner to now (possibly) track your every point and click + dark secret of the places you visit on the web and wish no one would ever know?
that is the single biggest reason I never moved to chrome. google tracks enough about you to learn about you. scarily, if you're logged into gmail in 1 tab and do google searches in the next tab, it now builds a history of every keyword you search tagged to your email address. then, it uses that information to show you ads. what stops them from selling that personal info?

I don't get it Kamal, how come you're having so many problems with FF? Which version are you on? Could it be some extension conflict?
Re: I'm getting close to sacking FF for good
for a forum that has been so outspoken about the invulnerability of FF, this comes as a bit of a shock...glad I've never used it now.

Finally. Someone agrees with me! :p
Re: I'm getting close to sacking FF for good
firefox crashes like a motherfucker on my macbookpro. i still use it tho.
Re: I'm getting close to sacking FF for good
No problems on my end at all. Macbook Pro, 10.5.6, FF 3.5.2.
Re: I'm getting close to sacking FF for good
Browsers are like cell phone companies... they all suck... just have to pick one and cross your fingers! :|

My problems just started, in fact I'm even having problems posting on ms, some of the threads that tom and me have going in the back end, I cant' even start to reply to them because the cursor never appears in quick reply box no matter how many times I click in it, I'm resorting to calling him now. I still can't get gmail to load well and its driving me insane.
I dont have too many extensions, just No script, and this IP plugin which shows the IP of the server I am connected to. Other than that, I'm running the latest version of FF and these problems just started randomly so I have no clue what is causing them
Re: I'm getting close to sacking FF for good
Try running it with a clean profile and see what happens?
Re: I'm getting close to sacking FF for good
well, i'm not so big on ff either, but i run a few add-ons that are essential to me so i stick with it:
addons:
noscript flashblock adblock plus
opera is also really good, i use that sometimes in tandem and is relatively light in resources. but me, because i don't like flash animation on every single site i visit (along with the ads) ff i will stay with.
i've also had hang-ups etc but i'm running beta version 3.5 on linux. the windows computers i run all work fine. so not sure about your problems Kamal...
I like a bit of opera. In response to your ff addons, I don't know specifics but I guess you can emulate with opera:
noscript -- the F12 menu lets you turn javascript etc on and off and each site can have custom preferences I think. flashblock -- http://my.opera.com/Lex1/blog/flashblock-for-opera-9 (not quite a one click install but works like a charm if you know what you are doing) adblock plus -- right click on a page and "block content..." can block content!

did you try a new profile yet? don't switch browsers because something finally broke for the first time in who knows how long and you're not willing to troubleshoot :)

I dont want to use XMarks and have all my logins + passwords sitting somewhere on the internet. I tried using Mozbackup but the problem returns. I've just deleted everything and starting from scratch. Going to be a MAJOR PITA to get everything off the ground again :(
Re: I'm getting close to sacking FF for good
I think it might have something to do with a Javascript bug. I would try to disable Java and Javascript (should still be able to access gmail via plain html and this board too) and then you can check to see if that's the problem.
Otherwise, if that's not it sounds like suspicious virus behavior but that's just my guess. Just throwing things out there sorry you are having trouble
no worries bro, thanks for the heads up. I dont think it's javascript but it could be "No-Script" doing me in.

Xmarks doesn't sync logins/passwords... just bookmarks. I know I've seen a separate project (I think by the creators of Xmarks) that is working to sync everything about Firefox, including accounts, but that's not the case for Xmarks.
Re: I'm getting close to sacking FF for good
so far so good on a clean install, gradually re-adding all my passwords, shortcuts.

they have a logo with pretty colors. ;)
ok, ok you got me. I use Safari at home.
Re: I'm getting close to sacking FF for good
How is safari on Windows? I still refuse to use Chrome, I just don't trust how much of your websurfing they will mine.
