was stunned by the length of the commercial during the Saints vs. Vikings Division Championship...evidently video games are very recession proof

Re: Mass Effect 2

If anything, computer games actually enjoy an uplift in sales thanks to people finding more things to do a home rather than going out.

Okay, Bioware, EA churn out some killer one's though. the interface for play in their games (ie. Mass Effect 1, Dragon Age) is super legit, hands down; it shines compared to others out there. I play few games these days - as my sched is super busy, but theirs are really well put together. big fucking bucks when into this, as John pointed out: the advertising during these killer footfall playoffs was a bit much lol.

i picked this up today @ game stop after work, and i just started playing; it is mindblowing and rich with content.

Re: Mass Effect 2

I've just never got into a first person shooter. I always find the controls limiting and doesn't feel right. Especially when people play them on consoles with a pad. At least a mouse and keyboard feels more fluid and exact. I think I'm just bored with computer games in general. Until Gran Turismo 5, that is.

Re: Mass Effect 2

^ Roger that mate, I hear ya :) I got a real bad issue with console controllers, as a matter of fact -- cos I'm a bit spastic when on them -- grrrr! I need to start playing on my PC more often; have not played many in quite some time, but I use my computer for school, work and deejaying primarily these days anyways. Got this for 360 cos it's fun to play on that. ME2 should be a blast. Hope all's well guys.

ME2 has a bigger action part but calling it a shooter doesn't do justice to the Game. The whole dialogue options and the freedom to make your own decisions that actually HAVE consequences, may they be good or bad, are oldschool RPG. Also Bioware has a unique way to tell stories and connects you with the NPC's that are in your team in a highly entertaining and also emotional way - but only if you don't mind to listen to a lot of conversations and if you do the optional quests and really explore the World(s). I am sure most shooter fans will be bored pretty fast with this, just play the Main quest and are done in 12 hours. Then it's maybe like a Shooter but that's not what it's meant to be. IMO of course aka Die hard Bioware Geek.

Re: Mass Effect 2

^ well fucking put mate. about a few hours into the game, and wow, simply so vast and calculating it's kinda scary! i'm playing as an adept this time around, and it's a bit tougher, but i enjoy all the micromanagement of your powers and your groups' in combat. the social interaction and story is magnificent. i enjoy the rp much much more than the combat in this game (if i wanna play some bonkers shooter, i'll play go play cod mw2 for a bit), but nonetheless, the combat is really sweet.
[ms]'ers might dig the stompin' club (especially the lower level; they play some storming techno, breaks, prog etc.) on omega; when you're in the the captain's cabin of the new normandy, it lets you listen to some electronic music as well.
fun shit. frankly, it's almost an entirely different game, but still preserves the key components. again, it's so bloody vast.

Re: Mass Effect 2

Have just installed it and redeemed the Codes for the DLC and now Defrag is running before I start it. I already took a brief look to see if the Character import works and it does..my Shephard is back. It's snowing like mad here and it's friggin cold so I have the best excuse to slack over the weekend on the PC. :)

Re: Mass Effect 2

Hello folks,

i have to say, finnaly finished playing the good guy, around 33h overall. starting with current player again, this time only bad stuff awaits.

I really can't believe how good the story is, as i found myself more than once to gape in amazement or whooing for my guys.

My g/f tought i am going loco when she started hearing me from my room. heheh

Re: Mass Effect 2

33 hours and done? You did not do much sidequests/planet exploration, or? I have played merely 30 hours so far and have just received new quests to hire more crew members so I think I am maybe in the middle of the Game or heading to the last third of it. But I am also testing out alternatives to see what they lead to and dang, you miss a lot if you only play it one possible way. And yes, the story is awesome and motivates you to continue all the time. My motivation curve was high in the beginning and is still high - without a single time of boredom so far. The only elements I can't stand are the 2 minigames (hacking and circuit connecting) and the stupid scans of Planets for the Materials you need for upgrades. Mako missions on ME1 weren't better but this is no real improvement, Bioware lol.

Re: Mass Effect 2

Yes, scanning the planet is pain in the a...

I finished all the side missions, excpet getting Jack to be loyal, and delivering some data to one salarian, cos i convinced him otherwise, but the quest wasnt closed. Dont know why, but the guy is gone.

Didnt research maybe 4-5 items, but have plenty of resurces left. The worst thing about replaying the game again is that damn scanning.

But did you notice that all girls have very low breasts position. I supposed that in space, without gravity, that should be different.

Seems you play quicker than I do if you did all side missions too but hey, I am an old man. ;) Yeah, I hoped for a 2nd update to the Scanner which just auto-empties a planet but Bioware seems to think it's fun to scan several dozen planets lol. In case I play it again, I will only check some of them because I have 400.000 left of all materials at the moment (besides Element zero which is rare). Maybe I should have written down on which planets you can get additional side missions but I guess there is already a Wiki for it. I also have a quest I solved peacefully and still have a side quest open which provides a more illegal solution to the same quest but the NPC is gone since a long time so this one will remain open I guess. Oh well, there are worse things that can happen. So far I never looked that close to the breasts so I did not notice it but I fucked the tatooed hardliner Jack haha. Since this, she does not talk to me anymore, only saying "Go away, you only want to make out".

Re: Mass Effect 2

at least you managed to hit her once...

I managed to seduce Miranda, she is ultra hot in that black outfit.. When you start for the 2nd time, you get 50k for all materials and 200k cash, but without renegade or that other thing points, so this will be much harder to maximize points in just one direction.

#1332458Post 22 of 24

Re: Mass Effect 2

miranda reminded me of too many a broad from around here, so i chose to remain loyal and pile crazy ass jack instead; it's much more fun having her, and her warp ammo with my class -- as opposed to miranda's skills.

playing this one nice and slow: i was sick the second weekend it came out, so i got tedious when scanning for resources, and i did all the missions before passing thru the omega 4 relay as well. taking a break, then starting back up in a lil bit (due to outside reasons) but i'm thrilled to prolong the joy of playing this lol

while many parts are different from ME1, i steadily applaud the new approach to the many various aspects of the game. ie. upgrades, mechanics, battle-tactics, rep, etc.

not an RP'er but i sure am now. tons of fun.i thought they did a sound job on this. gonna play thru again, this time on the hardest dificulty. shoudl be nuts!

Re: Mass Effect 2

Miranda is pretty but also fucking boring. Most boring character of all of them so far. This week even Mordus offered a dialogue option that seemed to go into the direction of Sex and I play a "John" Shephard so I quickly changed the topic...no clue if this woul have ended in a gay alien kiss scene haha. Fav chars are Jack and Grunt for me...especially Grunt is ace. :) If I play it again, I will recruit him first. Good sidekick in Battle and a very dry and black humor. His sayings while you are in the battle are so funny. Zaeed is a huge letdown..guy telling the same stories again and again and just standing around...never hame him in the party.

Re: Mass Effect 2

Picked this up last week.....such a beutiful game. The opening scene when you walk out onto the broken hull of the ship and the planet floats over head....mesmorizing....the detail is phenominal, down to all the sounds....such a a well produced game.
