recently i moved in a new house and as a new tenant i need to sort some things out to make my living more comfortable! so first thing... INTERNET!!!

i was thinking of getting one of those deals for mobile broadband. that way i wont have to install a telephone line from the beggining, not line rental and with just £10 a month i have internet anywhere i go with 8mbs speed. now the problem is the download limit is 3gbs...

when im at home, i dont really need to downloading stuff from the p/r here, or from internet in general, coz im able to do this at work! i'll just bookmark anything for download at home and when ill get to work i will download them!

but when im at home..

i dont know if even surfing on internet eats my download limit.. and not just that, but i like listening to online radio stations(not very often tho), watching internet tv and finally using msn video conference(you know the one where you see each other and proper talking instead of typing).

do you guys think that these things are going to use all my 3gbs download limit before the month is over?? i have a friend who is doing all the above and with 3gbs d/l limit, he never has a problem..

what do u think?

Re: i need some help guys..

if you know someone who is doing it within the 3GB limit, then that's good. I haven't looked but I presume there is some sort of freeware available that tells you your BW in real time. If there is no contract at that price, try it for a couple of months and see how it works out for you. If not, go to broadband.

Re: i need some help guys..

These days most ISP lets you buy blocks of data when you go over your quota ... if you have the option, no harm just giving 3gb a try. I'm on 40gb :p

kamal thanks for the advice dude! the price im on about tho is for a minimum 18months contract! you can get a pay as you go as well so i can try it for a month, but the dongle is not free then, and together with the internet price goes up to £50... heretic thanks for the heads up on the software mate! i got it but they told me that when you buy this kind of mobile internet, they give you a similar software to measure your bandwidth left! i asked my mate to borrow me the dongle he use, so i can try it for myself and see how it works! ill get it tonight, so hopefully until tomorrow, ill find out how much bandwidth consume all those things!
