I heard of Ethernet cabling, wireless cabling, even network transmission over your home's electric cables, but enabling ethernet connectivity over your home's Coax cabling is wicked ingenuety

Re: Home Networking

all cable providers use coax, so nothing new, same shit as ajax a few years ago - just a trend lol : )

go oldschool and get ethernet jacks in each room and a patch panel in the basement : D

you missed the point about this product. This is an option for people who do not have the time/motivation/money to spend on a CAT6 re-wiring project that will cost half a year's salary and months to implement.

For a fraction of the cost and as it is in my case, most rooms having TV connections would probably have a media center as well. So using the existing Coax cabling of your house to supplement internet connectivity is a blessing. you can setup 2 wireless N-routers on 2 floors with these and have all the speeds you need on a wired/wireless basis.

: D

ok, if your house is already "coaxed", thats a different matter.

mine wasnt so i decided to go the old way : D i can tell you it was done during one weekend and cost me just a few beers hehehehe

ok advantage was, in each room was already a ductwork to the basement, so we just had to pull the cables : D

Re: Home Networking

and not all cable providers use coax. I used to work for AT&T doing the uverse installations. And I can't tell you how many set ups i did with all cat5 ethernet cable.

Re: Home Networking

Would media center will work with UVerse, don't they encrypt their signals? (Like Fios/Dish etc.)

Re: Home Networking

That I don't know bro. I haven't worked for them in over a year. And the system was still really new at that time. They hadn't really begun at the time to add on to the system.
