I have a GeForce4 MX 440 (read crappy) and it runs great. Slight stutter during the auto-save on single player, but no slow-down at all with the online games.
I've read that my card can't handle the game, but I beg to differ.
what graphics card u need to have in order to play it though - that's the question!
The requirments for this game are surprisingly low for how unreal the visuals are. I've read on other sights that some are getting 45-50 FPS with like GeForce 5200s and other lower level cards.
what are some good cards to look at for this game? i'm building a new system soon and am curious...
@audiotherapy: Oh my goodness, what an avatar. Is that u?
Kraut :)
how will this game run on a P4 2.8, 1GB RAM, ATI 9800 Pro gfx card?
I play it on a P4 3 Ghz, 1 GB Ram and ATI 9800 Pro@1280x1024 with full details and everything turned on inclusive Full Screen Antialiasing...runs like a charm. Far cry and Doom 3 look slightly better but HL2 needs much less CPU and graphic card power...well done Valve. 8)
Re: HL2 = OMFG!!!!!
Okay, I've been playing the game WITH the annoying audio stuttering for 2 hours or so, I'm now at water Hazard, and omfg How incredible is this game??? It now already has enough memorable moments to become the best game ever. This for me was the most memorable moment in the game so far: When riding in water hazard, I was stunned by the graphics, so amazing!!! Then out of the sudden you hear a man screaming on a bridge, as I come closer he yelled: "Hey, here some supplies, grab them!" He then drops some boxes from the bridge into the water... I was stunned this moment, omg this game is incredible. Still I hope they fix this fucking bug very soon, it's sometimes hard to play!

Enjoy the easy parts while they last. I'm looking back on water hazard and wishing for the fun! Just hoping to see a helicopter chasing my ass around, but alas all I have are dead people throwing crazy little aliens at me... You are coming up on hard times mate. I don't want to spoil your fun, but when you get a chance to learn the gravity gun (soon), learn it!

Any upper to mid-upper class card will run this game like a dream. I've got a year old 9600XT and I average around 50-60 FPS with all settings maxed. I've read that the outdoor areas are way CPU intesive, so a good all-around system is ideal.
This is the best game ever, quite simply. It's quite laughable how shit Doom 3 is compared to HL2.
Also, I know I'll be playing it through again pretty soon after I finish it the first time - it really doesn't get at all repetitive like many FPSes.
Re: HL2 = OMFG!!!!!
Do you guys have some pics to post about the game? It would be nice to have a look at what you've seen about it so far!
Downside on this whole HL2 episode if you guys purchased the collectors edition, steam silver or gold, is that HALf Life source is a fukin rip off. Ive hd Half life 1 since the day it came out on day one back then and i had understood that they would remake this one with new models and shit.....BULLSHIT. even the Blue Shift High definition Pack before the source engine had come out made it at least look modified and better. I cant believe they charge us for a HL Source with nothing new that makes it inspiring to play again......Fucking rip off from valve once again after i bought the gold package.....
