I just learned about Google Voice a couple of days ago and it looks very promising... kind of scary to know that all your calls going through GV is sitting on some Google server somewhere though.

I´m guessing one doesn´t... I did apply for it months ago...

This GV stuff used to be called GrandCentral, and people who were in on the beta for that app, + a few lucky GMail users, also have access to GV now, but as soon as Google acquired it, they shut it off to the general public.

It´s not supposed to take much longer to be open to everyone though

i got an invite to GV yesterday afternoon... was pretty surprised really.

and its not free worldwide but it is extremely cheap. its a pretty cool that you can link up all your mobile phones into 1 number.

UPDATE:

if anyone outside of USA gets an invite... DO NOT login with an email.

if you want to be nice... you can paste your invite link to someone in the USA and have them login with their email and it will be linked to them.

that is the way to give your gvoice account to someone who can use it.

FINALLY got my request and signed up. Pretty nifty. I imagine everyone who signs up for this (if you can sneak in a request using a USA IP address) can actually get a USA mobile number and then use the google voice app on your BB to make free calls to the US from your blackberry. Of course you will use your data plan to make the calls (unless you are on a free wi-fi)

Hey Kamal, did you get it working ok on your bb? feather was kind enough to give me an invite, but I can't make outgoing calls.. I get some weirdo message that the party is not accepting calls at this time.

I've googled the issue, looks like quite a few are running into the same problem :what

I tried calling a few domestic numbers and it looks like its working ok, I haven't had any issues so far.
