it is still under warranty and will have to take it to the apple store probably, but this shit is pissing me off. i didnt do anythhing earlier today but sync my iphone and closed it and went to the store, now it decides it is not working. WTF.

Re: my macbook is broken AGAIN!

sad to hear that reso :(

i have never had any problems with any of my apple products.

the only problem i had was when i had a 1st gen ipod and tried to slam it onto concrete because i wanted a 2nd gen (was covered under compusa's warranty)... slammed it a good 5 times and it never broke :( thing was a beast.

Re: my macbook is broken AGAIN!

my only problem i have is with the power button on my imac, which apparently all versions of this computer have these problems.

Re: my macbook is broken AGAIN!

put in the disc you got with it when you bought it and when it is rebooting hold down shift key. it will fix your start up disc for you....very easy fix

Re: my macbook is broken AGAIN!

ok...why is it doing this in the first place?

Re: my macbook is broken AGAIN!

Maybe you tried to install a system update which failed, hence fuxoring your startup image? Some system updates can only be applied upon reboot, so if your machine tried to do that but had the update interrupted, that might lead to the current situation.

Re: my macbook is broken AGAIN!

Well the power buttons on Imacs have a tendency to wear out over time, and sometimes a bit faster than normal. I've already had a few times where I had to fiddle with it for 2-3 minutes to get it to turn on.

My friend Dave, who has the first gen with the G4 processors is always having problems with it...I think he just leaves the comp on nowadays.

Re: my macbook is broken AGAIN!

sorry to hear that. It took me two returns and about a month of time to get my refurbed macbook from Apple (i.e., should be like new) to work. hope you can get it worked out....

I am a bit surprised, though, after hearing all these things about macbooks being better, blah blah. worn out power switches? Are you kidding me?? I've had PCs do all sorts of things, but I've never had them do THAT.

Re: my macbook is broken AGAIN!

Well you almost never see windows machines looking this good either. Correction, you NEVER see windows machines looking this good.

I really don't think anyone else does power switches on a comp like the imacs are done. it's weird.
