Avira Antivir is supposedly the hottest free anti-virus out there this year. Has the highest downloads on download.com (iirc)

i switched from zone alarm to AVG .. found it to be significantly much less of a resource hog compared to zone alarm and it does its job really well

is AVG a firewall ? I thought it was an Antivirus .... in which case aren't you comparing two different apps ? (or has AVG now come out with a firewall too?)

The best firewall that I use (and discovered this year) is Comodo Personal Firewall. Kick ass.

Best antivirus out there... NOD32!! Love it and it doesn't hog up resources or try and do everything else like Norton or Mcafee.

Second that. The best AV I've used. Kasperspy is close.

No but you can find friendly versions on bittorrent.

avast antivirus is quite good as well and freeware. never had a problem with it and im using it for 3 years now

there's 2 version of AVG .. the free download doesn't come with firewall

^ ^ You can get the firewall for free. Mine is. I deleted it after the trial period, then downloaded it and it never expired. Been running with it for over a year, I believe.
