after owning an iphone since July... i find ATT's 3G complete shit. i get dropped calls constantly... in order to successfully make a phonen call, i have to turn off 3G.

makes me wish i would of waited for this blackberry but oh well... hopefully it will get better, heh.

Re: Blackberry Bold

well if 3g is fuckered, then its going to affect all devices banking on it no ?

I hope they have ironed out issued when I'm ready to get my bold next June.

Re: Blackberry Bold

Dang. I check with ATT the other day...They told me that I'm not eligible to upgrade my phone for another 18 months!!!??? Who are they to tell me when I can or cannot get a new phone? Fuck them in the ass.

i think the 'upgrade eligibility' refers to you getting the same deal as a new customer or getting rebates off the phone, not getting a new phone.

Re: Blackberry Bold

^ | yes, it just means your contract is up for expiry in 18 months. you can get a new phone anytime you want...but you'll be paying full price for it. in this case, probably about $700 or so...

honestly, if I'm going to go for a full touch screen phone, its iPhone or bust. Though Verizon has the advantage of the speeds of their upgraded CDMA network, the iPhone is truly a piece of work if you're not a BB/Email addict like me. The full qwerty keyboard is just wayy too much of a "must have" criterion in my decision making for the purchase of a phone.

and btw, I played with a bold in an ATT store recently..... that screen is the bees knees..... the resolution is SO crisp, you can't even tell the tiny spaces between the dpi thingamagig on the screen. Its just fluid like an OLED.

Re: Blackberry Bold

have played with one off and on for the past week or so. the resolution of the screen is rediculous. if anyone gets a chance to play with one, check out the videos in the media folder and watch the speed racer demo. still in awe.

btw, no official word as of yet, but i have heard that the storm will be coming to the ATT side of things within a few months. was told that verizon only had exclusivity on it for 3 months and the gsm version has already passed the fcc gauntlet.

Re: Blackberry Bold

ditto - played with it for 1 week.

Perks - screen res is insane. Love many of the features though they really dropped the ball into organizing your phone numbers into groups. You can group, but you can't call from the group, oh well.

Not sure about others with 3G, but mine is pretty dam fast.

Camera is badass; comes with a light for flash.

Trying out the ATT GPS Nav 30 day free trial. Thus far impressed. Nothing like running errands and realizing that you need to stop at a pharmacy or post office -- type in CVS pharmacy and it lists all the CVSs around you -- click driving directions and automatically sets you up.

Drawbacks - the browser kind of sucks and coupled with no updated flash/java support, it really limits you to what you can and can't see on the net.

Very little application memory in comparison with the size of applications.

No timer for how long you can set your phone to lock, or at least i haven't found the option to adjust it.

I'm sure there's more that I have to figure out. Still not a whole lot of apps for Bold. Ameritrade is coming out with their app in about 3-4 weeks.

Re: Blackberry Bold

so i come into work today and notice that one of my sales reps is carrying a new bold. so i ask, did you buy that? the reply floored me. at&t sent blackberry bolds to my each of my stores for the purpose of getting them in the hands of sales reps. obviously if the reps use them they will sell them, which is good business, but wtf??? how can it be that sales reps that have worked for me less than 6 months can get free bolds but rim nor at&t saw fit to provide the individual that runs these businesses and molds these individuals into being the powerhouse of sales people that they are, with one as well. what a damn cruel joke to play.

either way, i may have to actually pay for my new blackberry goodness this round, but at least my reps will make me some extra money with their new toys.
