Re: New Apple Notebooks

looks good but the only thing i didnt like was the fact that instead of 2 firewire ports theres only 1 now

#1100652Post 3 of 38

Re: New Apple Notebooks

yeah why do these idiots only think we need one port for Firewire...we need two, at least an 800 and probably a 400 too, as the 400 is more than enough for anyone to really need.

Very nice looking. I see they have a touchpad like the iphone does now for the mouse. Which will take a bit of getting used to.

Re: New Apple Notebooks

Are there any changes under the hood? TBH I'm over the aesthetics of the Macbook Pro, it's already so minimal there's not much else they can do to it to wow. I'm still a fan of the all-silver look, not the black bezel (which I never liked on the iMac either) nor the black keys.

How can you like looking at the 15" screen for documents?

#1100828Post 11 of 38

Re: New Apple Notebooks

I do unfortunately, can be a pain sometimes. But most of the time I only need Word and Firefox, and Entourage, RSS or iTunes in the background/minimised. It becomes more of a problem when I use stuff like Photoshop.

Re: New Apple Notebooks

its not the size that matters its the resolution. I can work all day on my old 15inch powerbook. now its even more crisp.. i friggen DO WANT one.

but i need more ram for my mac pro first, oh and two of those nice 24inch LED displays plz.

Re: New Apple Notebooks

Come on Mike, you and I both know that the firewire 400 is way faster than USB 2.0

I like this new computer, thinking of getting my ass one.

#1100905Post 15 of 38

Re: New Apple Notebooks

400 is not faster than usb2.

it has less overhead on the chipset, but on spec - paper usb2 is faster. even

i have 400 and 800 on my tower. barely use em

Re: New Apple Notebooks
it has less overhead on the chipset, but on spec - paper usb2 is faster. even
This is why it is faster. On paper it is deemed slower but in the real world, it is a buttload faster than USB 2.0 because of the damn architecture. That's why I've had my IDE drives on FireWire 400 converters for years. Makes things go much, much faster.

No I'm not saying that and don't try putting words in my mouth. I am saying exactly what I said...nothing more, nothing less.

isnt it suppose to be cheaper or is the price drop only on the regular macbooks?

Price drop was only on the plastic case macbooks.

Re: New Apple Notebooks

I love my MBP too..Don't see a need....I was under the impression that these new models were going to be "affordable" models that could be marketed to people who want a Mac but can't really afford it...Not to sound like an elitist or anything, but I thought they were doing something good for peeps that wanted to have one...Now, these new ones are the same price....Lame.

#1101237Post 28 of 38

Re: New Apple Notebooks

The media and blog world speculated that these models were going to be cheaper., Apple never said anything to suggest that they would be.

Don't blame them for not lowering their prices when they never said they would.

Not sure what gave me the impression that these were going to be more affordable models...

All the tech blogs were speculating about it. It gave a lot of people the impression that they were cheaper, and one model actually is.

all these rumor sites and speculation sites are just a huge waste of time.

they all set so high expectations that whatever Apple does, everyone complains for a couple of days after release.... then once they actually get in store and use them, they switch their tune and start hailing them.

Re: New Apple Notebooks

im getting a 2.4ghz macbook by the end of the year, they look great. The only things that arent good are not being able to choose between glossy/matte screen and no firewire support.

Re: New Apple Notebooks

I got my MacBook Pro in the mail today.

I can honestly see why Apple takes so much pride in the construction of these new notebooks because they are just beautiful.

I am very satisfied with my purchase. :)
