Missing my Vista programs on Ubuntu

So despite installing Ubuntu on Vista, I found myself running back to my Vista partition in order to run my everyday programs (download flix, connect via VPN to work, etc.) and so I started searching hoping to find a virtual machine for Ubuntu.

Just rant into VirtualBox. A free virtualization software that will allow me to run Windows in Ubuntu.

I'm gonna install it and see how it goes. Will post my results here shortly.

To those interested, here is a guide to installing it

Re: Missing my Vista programs on Ubuntu

it didn't work for me for some reason, I tried downloading the installer from various locations for the x86 architecture but I kept getting this error

Error: Wrong Architecture i386

I know my notebook's a core2 duo so dunno why, guess I'll have to mess with the AMD one and see if that works.

though it does look pretty nifty, here's a screenie running vista on Ubuntu

Re: Missing my Vista programs on Ubuntu

if you need the one as per my last post, then use this link to download the latest version

http://cds.sun.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/WFS/CDS-CDS_SMI-Site/en_US/-/USD/VerifyItem-Start/virtualbox_1.6.0-30421_Ubuntu_hardy_amd64.deb?BundledLineItemUUID=my5IBe.oE2QAAAEaI5wnfVhf&OrderID=yZ1IBe.o4RkAAAEaD5wnfVhf&ProductID=r.1IBe.oZ1wAAAEZ_qkZKqcY&FileName=/virtualbox_1.6.0-30421_Ubuntu_hardy_amd64.deb

installs without a hitch. Just be sure to use the link in my first post and set the permissions for the software

Re: Missing my Vista programs on Ubuntu

getting closer to having everything working fine. Didn't need to mess with samba all that much since my windows install can now see my network (woot)

followed this easy option to get my mouse working without jumping through hoops
