computer (alienware) is starting to slow a touch, and want a graphics upgrade.

soooooo.................

what vid cards are great now? im shopping for the future, so i want something well above average.

also, is RAM what i need to speed things up a touch?

i just defragged the drives, deleted some MMO's that werent being touched and sent all music to a separate external hard drive.

Re: lil help needed

for video cards, dont get anything with less than 512mb ddr ram.

as for ram for your computer, 2gb+ is really good.

dont know for specifics... beanz would be the knowitall in this category.

Re: lil help needed

though honestly, if you're not a gamer..... dont spend that much.... I got a passive cooling (i.e. fanless) video card (nvidia 8600gt) for $100. I only use it for my media center but 50% of my viewing is movies in 720P (and some in 1080i) and the card performs FLAWLESSLY.

So if you're not going to game, save your money.

Re: lil help needed

^ ^ What he said. Get more bang for your buck but if you're not a gamer then you can easily get a very good quality card for under $200 online.

Re: lil help needed

I believe mine's the 7600GT thinking offhand through EVGA

PCI-E, 256MB DDR2, paid I think like $80 for it.

Works like a charm on virtually any game I throw at it...picture viewing's good too on the LCD w/DVI cable.

Re: lil help needed

Could also post the basic specs of your alienware...don't know if I ever saw them on here or not, but would help in determining answers...

Re: lil help needed

Sad to say but you can get a card that will outdo that 7600GT for $50 nowadays.
