Anyone looking forward to this game? I just played the demo this weekend and have mixed feelings about it. Maybe because I'm not as good with games that have damage that just foul up a good race. I'm probably going to get it when it comes out next month as I did have a lot of fun with it. Here's a link and it is going to be available on the X360 as well.

Re: Grid

you'll need a proper steering wheel to enjoy those kinds of games, like the Logitech G25.

Is this game more like sim or arcade? damn PC demo didnt work.

Re: Grid

I've only tried the three cars they have on the demo so I'm not sure. I hope it's not arcade style or I might as well pass on it. You don't need a steering wheel to enjoy it. I just can't bring myself to spending $150 for a single add-on. Maybe I'll just go buy a Recaro seat instead.

Re: Grid

it is more arcade than sim apparently

Re: Grid

I've been reading more reviews and you are quite right. After playing the demo again, it's quite annoying at how fast the low end is on these cars and that's not accurate at all. Complete bullshit. I guess I'll be waiting for this one to drop down to $29 before I buy it.

Re: Grid

same group that made DiRT - which is an awesome game imo. Thanks for the heads up on the demo, i will have to check it out for the 360 :)

Re: Grid

I played the Demo but after GT5 it felt a bit odd because Grid seems to be more an arcade racer. I dug the option to use a replay though and hope this will be a new industry standard. The game got great reviews here though so maybe I am leaning it for a weekend from Video Buster to check it out a bit more before I go ahead and buy it.

Re: Grid

I saw it listed for free through my Amex points so I'll order it that way but I won't be paying for this thing. It's true. Very much an arcade racer and it is entertaining but I prefer simulators much, much more. The replay views are very annoying and I think they're made for kids with ADD. The angles switch way too often.

Re: Grid

Its an awesome game, much more versatile than Forza2 since it has a ton of kinds of gameplay. Ran the 24 hours of lemans last night and it was sick, the tougue mode is great too!

9/10 imo

Re: Grid

^ ^ Are you more into arcade vs. sim? I'm starting to like GRID the more I play it but I definitely wouldn't pay full price for it. I just wish it was more realistic.

#1029646Post 11 of 26

Re: Grid

Well this game is def easier to play than Forza, and that makes it a little bit more fun imo. The replay feature is great too. DiRT sucked, way too unrealistic. This game lays between DiRT and Forza in those terms.

In what ways would you like it to be more realistic?

#1032802Post 12 of 26

Re: Grid

I'd like the car response (speed; top end and low end, suspension, handling, etc.) to be more accurate. This is still way too much arcade style. I had that problem with Forza 2, as well. People were toting how much better they were than the GT series but once I tried them, I found that quite comical. They're not bad games. They're just not what people are saying they are.

14 year old speedsters without real drivers' license on Forza doesnt count as ppl beanz

C'mon man - DiRT wasn't going for realism - harsh critique. It's a great game with a beautifully unique menu structure and edge-of-your seat rally. One of the msot exciting racing games I've played by far. I will never tire of racing through bumpy muddy roads at 100mph doing my damnedest to stay on course and keep from nailing a tree or kissing a bolder. Considering the lack of rally sport games out, I consider this to be one of the best. Did you get the full game or just try the demo?

I'm no connoisseur of racing sims, but I enjoy everything from silly NFS racers to Project Gotham. I love Forza 2 as well and can appreciate the different approaches of each style of game. Do yourself a favor and give DiRT another chance! :D

Re: Grid

I got the full game, played it for about a week and since then it has been laying on its box. Ive never been a fan of NFS either, way too much street racing/2fast2furious for me hehe. Its just a matter of taste bro.

Re: Grid

@ saucercrab. Dirt was a huge failure and even the production team admit that it had a major amount of flaws and a very immature physics engine in it. It could have been more than it was but it wasn't. It wasn't completely bad. 2/10.

#1033059Post 18 of 26

Re: Grid

:( well that's just crazy lol

I can't remember the last time I thoroughly enjoyed a critical failure! I know it's not perfect, but the rally cross was sublime imo. Maybe b/c I wasn't expecting a sim style racer, I was able to let go and just have fun with what the game was. Or maybe I have a biased review b/c I use a wheel and a Playseat with a Buttkicker - which provides lots of vibration for racing games. Btw, if you wanna see a truly crappy rally game - check out the new one from Sega - I was actually laughing at how poorly it played - straight outta 1995 arcade!

Re: Grid

Which new rally game from Sega? I know they had that ass one from last year. Sega Rally Revo, I believe. It's a total joke but my kid loves it. Probably because he's 4. :p

Re: Grid

geez...that setup is awesome, i wish i could afford one like that !!!

#1033162Post 21 of 26

Re: Grid

Yeah - Rally Revo, I guess it's not so new anymore. I played the demo - it was funny.

Re: Grid

Picked it up last night.

Agree it would be much more fun with a proper racing wheel. Thinking about getting one.

Re: Grid

I think it'd be more fun if the cars actually drove the way they should. That's right. I'll be the party pooper. YEAH!

I hooked up the Logitech g25 to play grid, turns out you can't use the manual gearbox and clutch.

Grid is just an arcade style racer, and its pretty enjoyable for what it is.

finally played it. it def is an arcade racer w/ its own physics engine quirks. but overall im digging going through it. i loved dirt for the above reason. this game def has those times of edge of seat racing.
