I have preordered GTA 4 for PS3 as well. If the time difference is not against us all the time we can play an [ms} online match for sure (after I have bought a router to share my internet connection with the console)

thats not gonna happen anytime soon unless microsoft ties up a deal with sony ... xboxlive and the psn works separately on its own

tom ... if im not mistaken PSN works differently from xboxlive whereas xboxlive is one big server which hosts everyone from every region but PSN has its own server according to region ... as i have yet to play online with anyone on my ps3 i cant be sure of that yet but what i know is that for every psn store account thats created it gets tied up to the region by the address that u provide and different region's store provide different downloadable content

so far i have 2 separate accounts set up ... one account for Asia and one for US .. i have yet to set up the ones for japan and europe

So far I did not think about gaming across platforms because I am sure it will be ultra hard alone because of the different platform technologies and features and even if it would be possible, Microsoft and Sony would not want it to happen I guess.

I assumed for online gaming it does not make a difference whether your account is registered to Europe, USA or Asia or wherever you can buy the console. Isn't this supposed to be world wide fun? :o:

One thing I was hoping to see fixed, not just in this game, but in this generation of consoles, is curved lines. Still is a problem (yellow line down the road and the curb).

got my hands on a promo copy for the xbox from the office and got through the first 3hrs of it ... the opening cut scene is the most cinematic that i have ever seen in a game and the overall feel of the game is just like going through a movie but with the usual gta gameplay ....

the script for the game is so well written imo that its amazing with the main story going and the side quests that u have going on with the other characters which depending on how well u go through them would determine whether would they help u later in the game

of the new stuff that they added i actually like the fact that u can watch tv in game and the stuff they show on the 'tv channels' are some ridiculously hilarious and insane stuff and theres a spoof on paris hilton that i thought was funny as hell

only problem so far is that i havent figure out how to get to the online/multi player mode and the copy i have is for distribution in EU and i think some cutscenes might be censored for that release

overall i would say its definately game of the year for 2008 until mgs comes out and we can make the comparison and drunk driving is in the game ... go figure on that

GTA4 is not censored in the EU version. It receieved an 18 year rating and can't be sold to kids but the positive side of this is that they did not have to censor it. Praying multiplayer will be possible with people from outside EU.

As to the comment of censorship in the EU, there was an article on that recently. The European version is censored. Not a lot but there were things cut out of it.

if u're not on gold membership for xboxlive u can forget abt multiplayer on the 360 ..... the normal silver membership doesnt get u in ... nice way to cash in micro$oft

I'm picking mine up on Wednesday. Plan on playing it all Wednesday night also. I used to be a regular troll on the [ms] forums then hit on hard times. I'm Alpinevpr on PSN....or at least I think I am. I'll add you when I get home from work.

Funny thing though. I'd probably have bought it on 360 if some teen-aged fuckers hadn't stole my xbox and all the games. So I bought a PS3 and have been totally impressed since.

Picked it up at midnight last night. 300+ plus sausages in line waiting to get it. Worth all the hype so far, this game is tidy to say the least.

Thoughts so far...

The driving feels different that the other GTAs. At least at the start, its much more lose than what I remember. But once you get a feel for it, it actually feels a lot more realistic. You can't go into a corner at 100mph and hit the hand brake and expect to make the turn gracefully.

I'm only 8 or so missions in, but already, you can't help but like Niko.

The game has frozen once.

if you are looking just to "take in some sights"...stop by the airport. The level of detail is unreal...plus there may be a fun little treat over there to play with.

Can't wait until my exam is over tomorrow so I can play for more than an hour!
