Nokia doesn't care

I have bought a Nokia N73 on december 28th 2007. It has started failing on january 16th, i took it to the service center and they said they fixed it. Wrong... It kept failing.

The problem was the software not reporting the battery power being drained. The phone always showed 100% battery charge.

On Jan 16th my phone powered off, and I couldn't turn it on. Tried with another battery and worked. The service center took a day to repair the phone. They only did a firmware rollback, to a oldest version. That didn't go well.

On Jan 21th i took it to the service center again and they said it should take at least 10 business days to get it checked by Nokia technicians. I agreed (I had no chance!) and they sent it.

It took them a full month to give my phone back. I was furious! I was using my old Motorola V3 in the meantime, since they only offered a shitty phone in replace for my N73 during the repair.

They gave my phone back on Feb 22th, but now with other problems. The phone has been kinda damaged. They scratched the display (well, the external case, anyway.. it was perfect when I left it there), damaged the case on the corners, where they forced to open the phone, and it has two fingerprints on the internal side of the display. If that's not enough, when I slide the camera cover to activate it, it works 50% of the times I attempt to take a picture (If I'm lucky).

I have no idea what can I do next. I don't want to pay for a new phone, and either would like to take it to the service center again, considering they have damaged it on the first place, BUT Nokia contact center tells me it's the only way. They make no exceptions to the protocol, no matter how hard you complain about a company not providing an adequate service level.

I have accomplished my part. I have paid for my cell phone, made a normal use (just threw my contacts, mails and calendar on it) and I've been very patient with this case. Problem also is, they are going to spend another month trying to repair a phone that was in perfect condition when i took it, when not's my fault.

NOKIA CARES as a motto sounds a bit ironic. The company doesn't care at all. They have outsourced the tech support and when you try to start a complaint they only write it down and don't contact you asking why are you so mad with the company.

Anyway, I have started a blog (in spanish by now, gonna probably translate it later) to expose my case, and ask other users to send me theirs to publish.

If any of you had troubles with NOKIA before, please let me know :)

And of course, if any of you know people that can help (inside Nokia) contact me :p

Re: Nokia doesn't care

I tried their phones back in the late 90s and hated them so I gave up. I now use Samsung and have never had any issues with my phones.

Re: Nokia doesn't care

this would be where i normally step in and say something somewhat intelligent.......meh

to each his own, everyone likes something different

Re: Nokia doesn't care

That's truth. to each his own.

i love mine, love symbian, installed a lot of applications for it, the phone synchronizes with outlook perfectly. and the camera takes amazing pictures.

the only problem was with the tech support. my phone is failing, and nokia doesn't care about that. they just want to sell phones (and outsource the support) it is a very profitable formula for sure but it has to achieve some breaking point where users get tired of being treated as stupid, and start claiming for the service they paid

Re: Nokia doesn't care

Yeah Nokia does suck... Have you looked online for any solutions on technical forums...I was told that its not very difficult to fix symbian phones its usually a software problem and you can download that of the internet...

I would recommend that you try and fix it on your own to be honest and this might come as a surprise to you but NO COMPANY CARES otherwise they wouldn't be making so much money.

Re: Nokia doesn't care

they already have left my phone worse than when i took it there.

i expect AT LEAST they give me the phone in the same state (at least external) as where it was new.

i don't discard hiring a lawyer too :)

Re: Nokia doesn't care

Nokia hater here tool...though I have one. When I got mine (6230i) I had to struggle over weeks with them till they believed that their new Software version was NOT working with the sim card from my provider. I was in contact with my provider who said "Go and ask Nokia, we are innocent" and Nokia said "Go and ask your provider we are innocent"...in the end it turned out Nokia was not innocent and they made a firmware update to fix it..by that time I had already switchted my provider though because the reason I bout a cell phone was that my old one was damaged and I wanted to use the phone...surprise surprise and thanks for caring so much, Nokia. I mean it is not that I offered them to send my sim card in or SHOWED it to the guy in the Nokia store locally even with his own cell phone....sheesh.

Basically all modern companies are the same. Buy our shit but then fuck off!, asswipe. Or deal with waiting 4-6 weeks to get your damaged gadget back or to wait 30 minute long on the phone and then talk to a guy who makes it worse instead of improving your situation. Talking with Nokia customer service was one of my WORST customer experiences besides the Telekom service center apes.

Last Nokia experience which lead me to the Hater side was the way they acted in Germany. They opened a manufactory in Bochum in Germany some years ago and got lots of tax deductibles and public funds because they promised to create a lot of work places but now they are moving to Eastern Europe because they obviously have found a cheaper place for their business.....irony in this is, their move will be sponsored from EU public funds..in which Germany pays in most. So we are paying them to ruin 3,000 jobs here and move to a country where they can put their workers in better slavery. Strange times we live in.

Re: Nokia doesn't care

Not all companies are that bad. I've had great experiences with Samsung, Motorola and as for providers, Verizon have been awesome. That's why I'm still with them. Awesome service. Same day service if I ever have a problem with my phone. During regular hours, of course.

I would switch company, if only I could keep my phone number :(

The rest, seems to be the same in every place. 4-6 weeks if you are lucky. Talking to those robot-like service representatives is a waste of time, even if you start a complaint, they never contact you back, or ask what the hell is wrong with their service.

Ironic how they claim NOKIA CARES when they don't care at all.

Re: Nokia doesn't care

ok let me say one thing about nokia. best bluetooth stack in the business. nokia's bluetooth allowed you to listen to mp3's via bluetooth long before bluetooth stereo headphones were around. also if you had an mp3 ringtone the phones will play the ringtone in your bluetooth.

let me say bluetooth one more time...........bluetooth, k I'm done.
