Haven't seen a thread for this (other than recommendations) and thought it would be interesting to see what people have and like/don't like.

I have a Meizu M6 SL 8Gig with sony MDR-EX51LP in-ear headphones. The headphones are ok, but I think I would upgrade to Sennheiser cx300's when I need new ones. So far I like the Meizu. It has had very few kinks or problems in the firmware. The biggest issue (not real big) is that it can occaisionally skip at the end of a song/set for a second.

I don't see any poll selections/choices.

I am currently using a Creative Zen. The 8GB model and I added an 8GB SDHC card. I've just got some cheap Panasonic earbuds as I only listen to compressed music on this portable so I don't need high end listening components. They're still better than stock and better than many models from Sony that were more than double the price.

This is strictly a write-in ballot. I wouldn't even pretend to know how many brands & models of players or headphones there are.

I've got a creative zen micro 6gb and wouldnt change it at all for an ipod or something similar. The only fault is the battery life is about 3 hours but this doesnt really pose a problem cus i dont need it that long daily anyway.

My 20GB Zen Sleek gives me about 15 hours of listening since my stuff is mostly between 256KB and 320KB. My 8GB Zen gives me around 17 hours with the same bitrates.

i used to use ipod nano with apple in-ear's

sold it awhile ago... have no use for an ipod or anything anymore

will prolly buy another ipod this summer though for flight travels

I have a 30gig zune. I love the device but loath the software that came with it.

When walking around I use the earbuds that came with it or any of the other buds I have laying around. When studying for a long time I plop on my earmuff Sennheisers as the buds start to hurt after a while.

Microsoft is better at its marketing than its software development, they should seriously diversify into global communications and marketing strategies.

i've got the 80gig ipod with the regular headphones, and sometimes I use my Sony DJ headphones. But rarely find the need to use them.

since 5 years I'm using now my iriver ihp-120 with 20Gigs. and up to now i haven't any problems. this machine is doing a great sound...i dind't thougt it's so significant since i've had heard the same song with the same headphones (panasonic rp d600) on an ipod and mine

4GB first gen iPod mini w/ some cheap intraural headphones, its not a fancy last-gen player, but it does the job :D

Meizu M6 SP 4GB + Senn CX300. love this combo its amazing. a little more space would be nice but its not too bad. SQ is stellar.

gotta love the meizu! i have the M6 SL 8GB and will get the Senn CX300 when my sony in-ear MDR-EX51LP's wear out. What is SQ? Headphones?

I'm on an iPod Classic 80GB and Westone UM2.

And Shuffle with CX300 for the gym and running.

creative labs 30gb zen mp3/mp4 player with sony with MDR-EX71 headphones...I think I am gonna change mp3 players though, hope to get something with less memory less bulky and with an easier menu to navigate through (making a play list with this one is a bitch) I am keeping the headphones they are the highlight of the configuration lol.

5G iPod w/ Sony earbuds. can't justify dropping a bunch on high-end earbuds, because they have about a month and half lifespan in my world.

I bought a new battery from ebayand now and it last about 15 hours so it seems the battery was just a bit old.

I use some cheap Insignia 6gb. I think its the Best Buy brand. I have a bad habit of breaking one every 6 months... So whatever shows up on woot around that time i pick it up

I like the in-ear headphones that come with the IPod if I'm on the go, but I've also got an old pair of noise canceling bose headphones that work great for plane rides or long trips.

Just to clarify, the stuff that comes with the iPod aren't in-ear, they're normal earphones, also known as ear buds.

In-ear are seriousl IN your ear, like the Westones or Shures or Etymotics or SuperFi. They're designed to work with different tips for different comfort and sounds, and go into your ear canal for sound isolation.

80gb iPod with the shite white buds that came with it. I tried some in-ear shures but I can't really use those in the city... need to hear shit going on around me. Not to mention I could hear how bad the compression was of some of my music AND I hate shoving those fucking things in my ear.

ipod classic with some senny CX300 not bad as they were only 15squid but the bass can be a bit crappy at times

Yeah some IEMs are notorious for revealing all sorts of defects in your mp3s or your source because they're so sensitive. I lent mine to my brother and he couldn't use them for that reason. That said, when the mp3 is good quality, it's amazing. Even my older mp3s sound different and amazing when I listen to them.

I just went to test a DAC/amp for my mbp and iPod ... can't justify ~USD184 for the slight improvements :(
