Re: The best mp3 player for sound quality?

i would have thought it's the headphones that make the difference, either way, i've got a pair of senheisser in ear head phones along with a samsung mp3 player, works a treat and the sound is good for what it is.

Re: The best mp3 player for sound quality?

i'd honestly say the best mp3 player out there is the ipod...they keep improving it and improving it again. I really dig mine, the quality is fantastic on it.

Re: The best mp3 player for sound quality?

Ipod has a great UI but when it comes to sound quality, they're not the best.

Here's another great site with a shit load of mp3 players that AREN'T Ipod.

Re: The best mp3 player for sound quality?

I'm looking for a portable player that gets the best out the mp3s. I realize mp3s are lacking to begin with. I only d/l files with a minimum of 192 kb/sec, so with that as a starting point, I guess playback should be ok.

I don't want to automatically gravitate towards the ipod, although I constantly hear mixed messages they are the best in terms of sound quality

thanks for posting

Re: The best mp3 player for sound quality?

The ipod might not have the best audio quality but it looks like the people in apple take it seriously.
There’s generally good news on the iPod classic audio quality front: Apple still appears to be taking sound quality seriously in its hard disk-based iPods, and this year’s model has consequently seen further reductions in the base level of noise from last year’s fifth-generation iPods. Plugging the same high-end earphones into both old and new iPods yields a noticeable difference in audio hiss; the iPod classic sounds cleaner. It remains to be seen how the iPod touch will fare in this regard, but if the iPhone and our brief tests of iPod touch at Apple’s Special Event are any indication, the iPod classic may well be the family’s best audio player.
taken from here: http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/ipod/review/apple-ipod-classic-80gb-160gb/P4

Re: The best mp3 player for sound quality?

Better is not best but at least they're finally taking an attempt to improve their product... even if it did take them six generations to slightly give a shit.
