I really enjoyed this read this morning. Really shows the development and time invested in making the Apple iPhone product.

Re: Great Article about the iPhone.
But AT&T still sucks ass. My new work phone is much better but that's because it's a Quad-Band phone. My verizon phone still has a better signal and better coverage too.

lol started reading the first page and noticed that it was 4 pages long... i cant read that shit at work... looks like a good article though, will give it a buzz later tonight.

agree 100%. but i hate how verizon loads their own OS on each phone and locking all the cool little features the phone has.
in the US mobile industry... you either go with the best phones, or go with the best service.. cant have both
Re: Great Article about the iPhone.
What features do they take away? If that's true, that sucks. I've got the Samsung u740 for personal use and I really enjoy that phone. Battery life is awesome and signal works great. For work, I've now got the Moto Q9h (global) and frankly, this phone kicks major ass but I'm still having to deal with the fact that it's on AT&T. It's a quad band phone so it works WAY better than my Treo did. In terms of signal reception, that is.
And back to the original topic... I still think that phone is way too much glitz. Makes me feel like I listen to rap.
Re: Great Article about the iPhone.
I think it matters where you live beaner. I've had At&t for years (well, cingular for awhile) and it's the best choice in the midwest.

Not necessarily features they take away, it is just their theme, the red borders and such. It makes it so that every phone on Verizon looks the same... there is no individuality going on.
With verizon, you are choosing a phone based on physical attributes, eg. thinner/camera. As far as i am concerned, every phone that they have, the screens look exactly the same... im just saying it would be nice if verizon left that up to the designers of the phone

You'd think they would actually attempt to make a reality of their advertising. I've been throughout the midwest and many times where my AT&T phone wasn't working, the Verizon phone was. Although, I've only been through about 12 states over there so I may not have been around enough places.

As for individuality, you gotta remember, you grew up in Eugene. ;)
Re: Great Article about the iPhone.
I work for ATT and I do not have their service. That is all I will say.
Re: Great Article about the iPhone.
Yeah, sucks that my division has an agreement with them. At least this phone is quad band. Works a whole lot better.
Re: Great Article about the iPhone.
Gotta clear a couple of things up here. Jenks is right, the coverage is about where you live, carriers can't guarantee coverage everywhere; they try to base coverage off of population, but that's not always possible. I've had at&tingular for 4 years now and at no point have I had problems with reception.
Verizon most defo removes alot of the features that make phone fun to play with. Bluetooth file transfer is one of many. Not sure if this has changed with them in the past few months, but they used to charge to send files via bluetooth. Ridiculous to say the least. Also you can actually send an email from your phone via text. All you have to do is enter email addy rather than phone #, again not with Verizon.
As far as phones and OS go I have been told the reason behind the same OS in all Verizons handsets are to keep their customers and employees from having to learn anything new. From working with customers on a daily basis, anytime you ask someone to learn something new (cell phone operation for example) requires having to listen to Joe Customer complain about it for at least 20 minutes. If you have the same OS in every phone:
As far as Verizon phones outclassing anyone else's, that's ridiculous. Verizon has some pretty swank phones, but so does everyone else.
Verizon has stated that they will be opening their network this year to any phone that will operate on their network, so you may not be stuck with their OS forever; however, the device you choose to use on their network must be WCDMA compatible so therefore you are still limited. Where as T-mobile, AT&T or any other GSM carrier you have the ability to use any GSM phone on their network, and GSM is where it's at for swank ass phones.
Re: Great Article about the iPhone.
I have had one for about a month and love it. It has really enhanced my life. And I was the last person who would have thought they would like the phone. Very well done.
The Apple bluetooth designed for the IPhone is so-so. Looks great and sync's up nicely but not the best reception. Pricey too ($129 usd).
Re: Great Article about the iPhone.
my friend hacked his. holy crap there are a load of apps and toys you can add to it if you hack it.
Re: Great Article about the iPhone.
The only major problem I have with the iphone is you can't send or receive MMS messages without e-mailing messages to people off your phone or going to a website to view them from someone else's phone.
That's probably the only major problem I have with it. Other than that, no mass text messaging and no mass deleting are kind of pesky.

It's common sense but I'm only speaking from my experience of using AT&T in 36 states, including them midwest.
[QUOTE=rainman;559689]As far as Verizon phones outclassing anyone else's, that's ridiculous. Not that all phones offered by Verizon are better than every phone offered by the other carriers. I should have been less clear with my statement. I won't try next time.
