Big hit to HD-DVD
Re: Big hit to HD-DVD
yeah i heard that, that is another reason the bluray deal im talking about might be a good thing to do, even if i dont buy any other high def dvd's other than the free ones that come with it, i can use it as a standard dvd player for now. then wait to see how the format wars go...
Re: Big hit to HD-DVD
I'm still holding back to see where the ball finally drops. With the prices of the fucking discs / blank media / burners these days, not worth the risk (of course if you've got the dosh, it's a moot point anyways)
Re: Big hit to HD-DVD
LG has a decent dual player that can be had for $220ish if you're interested. I'm on the blu-ray side for now as I don't feel like buying an HD DVD player. I use my PS3 and I've already got 10 movies in two weeks time. Blu-ray movies are pretty cheap if you buy them when they come out. Amazon has buy one get one free sales and then I just got some from Fry's for $13 each with free shipping.
Re: Big hit to HD-DVD
well now you can get HD DVD players for cheap
and a lot of people are beginning to dump theirs...
still definitely worth the wait time; even the porn industry (Digital Playground) was rumored to go Blu-Ray...but that has since been a bit rescinded and they'll go with both still.
But Universal and Paramount are heavily rumored to start going BR exclusively within a few weeks. If that occurs, forget it.
Of course, the herds will just buy DVD's because that alone is a nice jump in quality for them
