hey all,

i will be in the market for a new digital camera. my first preference is ultra slim, credit card size camera. a friend of mine recommended the Canon Powershot SD1000. i am looking to spend at max, $200.

i know plenty of people on here are into photography and the digital culture, and i thought i would start a thread here and ask for some input.

You can always get an Exilim for cheaper. Just don't be looking for "high quality" out of these. My brother has one that's an 8MP and got his a bit back for like $145

I have the sd1000 and love it. highly recommend it. The battery is excellent and it just feels well built. I've taken it out to several clubs and it takes really good pics in darker atmospheres. Also it takes surprisingly good vids with sound.

i ended up getting the Sony DSC-T70. i love it so far. was teh smallest and slimmest camera out there... i like the touch screen part of it and how you turn it on, you just slide the front cover down... really is a nice lil camera.

My colleague's Canons keep breaking down on him, I've recommended him to check out Nikon or Lumix instead :lol:

I misplaced my DSLR at my cousins wedding last month. Considering the Canon G9. Its not exactly "slim" but it's not a lightweight either, seems to be bridging the pro-amateur / PNS segment pretty good.

sure is, 12.1 MP and ability to shoot RAW with the Digic III processor and face recognition and built in image stabilization..... couldnt ask for more in a camera (esp one from canon) under $450

Hot damn. I'm fighting the urge to get me a nice Digital SLR to take with me on the road but I'm sure I'll eventually get one. I see way too much good stuff in this country to not have recorded.
