Re: NTLDR missing

If you have a floppy disk drive, try popping out the floppy disk located in the drive.

I always get the NTLDR message when I leave a disk in there

Re: NTLDR missing

Copy NTLDR from your mates computer (It's hidden on drive C: so goto Folder Options / View / Show Hidden Files and uncheck the Protect Hide Operating System Files box) onto a bootable floppy disk. Also copy NTDETECT.COM and boot.ini. Rename NTLDR to SETUPLDR.bin

One thing to note about boot.ini is you may need to make a few alterations to it to make it work. However, its a pretty fair assumption to say the boot.ini in his XP installation will be the same as yours. In any case, if it wasn't, it'd also be fair to say he'd know about it and how to fix it. ;)

Stick floppy in. Boot system and voila! (You may need to copy NTLDR, NTDETECT.COM AND BOOT.INI over from the floppy onto your C: drive)

Re: NTLDR missing

Delete yourself. That will fix it. ;)

Re: NTLDR missing

As fas as i know, some possible causes of the NTLDR problem are:

  1. Your computer is booting from a non-bootable source
  2. Corrupt NTLDR file
  3. Loose or Faulty IDE/SATA hard disk drive cable
  4. Misconfiguration with the boot.ini file

Re: NTLDR missing

^ ^ Start backing up your data. It's inexpensive, not a hassle and saves you a lot of grief.
