So is the iPhone in essence, a dead giveaway of what the next gen iPod will look like ? or have ? I can possibly foresee a 100 gb or even a 120 gb version iPod with the same touch screen as the iPhone, the album art surfing. The one thing I DO hope they include into the iPod is the WiFi connectivity. That would just seal my next gadget purchase.

iPhone.... sign of the next iPod ?
Re: iPhone.... sign of the next iPod ?
120Gb would be awesome. I have a feeling that the touchscreen piece will be incorporated into the iPod (not a professional opinion by any stretch) just because of the overwhelming response the iPhone is getting. If it does this and has the Wifi, I will gladly replace the 80Gb I am using now. It's getting close to the storage limit anyway. Now, when they can make an iPhone with the 120Gb and it can have a battery life longer than 8 hrs, that would be the time to switch from iPod to iPhone.
Re: iPhone.... sign of the next iPod ?
I saw something on digg a week ago or so that said the next ipod was confirmed to have a screen/interface similar to the iphone
Re: iPhone.... sign of the next iPod ?
But will Apple improve the mediocre sound quality out of those things?
Re: iPhone.... sign of the next iPod ?
I'd like to see the iphone as an ipod without the phone bit.. and yes improved sound quality for sure.
Re: iPhone.... sign of the next iPod ?
Does anyone REALLY need 120GB though? I have a 60GB iPod and when i got it I was filling it up quite rapidly - I got to about 40GB when I realised that I was putting stuff on it for the sake of it. I have since limited it to things I will only listen to, and photos I will only want to look at on the move. Think I'm on the 28GB mark now and I can't see that greatly increasing anytime soon.

More storage is for the lazy.

^ Hear hear - I find it important to update my iPod and remove stuff I will prob never listen to again. It means I tend to end up with the sets I really enjoy!
