yea i would love one! i always thought that i would not want a phone with music, cause i always wanted my music separate from my phone. but now living in a city where i am on the subway all the time... it would be sweet to just plug in my headphones and not have to carry an ipod (never do, dont want to be at a bar till 2am with my ipod in my pocket) ... and internet, when waiting for the subway, friends or whatever... my blackberry keeps me busy now... the iphone would be ideal for me, music and internet!

many reasons to stay away now... first model you always stay away from. you can only use at&t. the price will come down (but knowing apple, not by much). and those hard drive sizes are bound to increase. would be a sweet toy imo

Why does the iPhone use EDGE? Is EDGE more prevalent in the US? Everywhere else is on GPRS or a faster network.

not sure why they decided to go with edge. at&t's network is supposed to be full blown 3G by end of 2008. long time to wait tho imo.

american companies have always had to for some reason be way behind europe when it comes to things like this. From what I know only Verizon and AT&T offer the same system that europe uses.

I'm waiting till December when it comes out overhere to decide whether I'm going Blackberry or iPhone.

JTS, the price will be around 400/500 euro if I remember correctly.

absolutely hilarious that the employees at the at&t stores know nothing about the phone. no live demo in the store to play with, no option of insurance or help with anything if you have problems. the only training that they received was to tell everyone to go to apple.com, they are not even allowed to open the boxes when selling one. they didnt even bother to activate the phones for the customers forking out $500+. Worst release of any electronic device in history in my opinion. I have spoke to several people that bought them on friday and most are still not working because they are not intelligent enough to navigate through apple's website. hilarious that the people who bought cant figure it out and that at&t stores are no help whatsoever.

defo need to wait for 2nd gen for these.

its been setup to activate the phone in your house w/ itunes. they probably dont do it in store so they dont have everyone typing their accounts and passwords and a cc# into a public computer to register the phone.

well to me all those problems seem not to really be at&t problems but apple problems, as they must have been the ones that wouldn't let them have a demo model and all the other crap they have to deal with.

they sold over 500K of those things on the first weekend and At&t's servers crashed from all the new customers. Insane. Someone wasn't doing their job.

They'd better fix the scrolling problem in the address book. With any phone you just punch in the first letter of the name and it goes there. With the iPhone, you need to scroll all the way through your contacts. Bites...

i thought i saw on the demo that it has a teeny tiny set of letters on the side like a scrollbar, and you have to tap on the letter to jump to that section

Could be, one of my mates told me about this scroll shit. He's pro Blackberry, so he could be full of it...

As for the memory: it should be pretty immense. I mean, the total internal memory is up to 4 gigs right now. Add your SIM memory to that and I'm sure you can stuff all your chicas' contacts in there beanz ;)

aside from at&t's servers crashing due to excessive network usage their customer service reps are hating the iphone traffic in the call centers. i spoke with a rep yesterday who said they had 700 calls in que!

it does defo have the alphabet on the right side of the contact list so that you can jump to a specific contact. it also has shared memory so the number of contacts should never be an issue.

still will probably wait until later this year for 2nd gen
