not only that. 8 meg cache per proc. running at 1333 bus. and the only 3ghz intel xeon available.

That is a monster. For shits and grins, I maxed out the specs on that guy yesterday to see what it would set me back. Give it a try. :shock:

After years of having underpowered processors (even though they still ran plenty fast b/c of the OS), it's nice to see Apple having some machines with some serious horses under the hood. Can't wait for Leopard to come out so I can get mine...

laptop. I have two perfectly good desktops already -- one of which is brand new -- so it would be tough to justify replacing them. I travel a ton for work, though, and don't like using the firm computers, so I'm getting a MB or MBPro to have with me when I travel, use wirelessly around the house, etc. Can't wait!!!

Cool, I'm thinking of the MBP myself. Have a buddy working with Apple who said he could get 15% off for me the day I decide to get one.

I'm shaking thinking of the learning curve. :lol:

I am also waiting for MacBook Pro. On Apple's refurb site, you can get a steal of a deal on products. You get the year warranty as well. They go fast, and they update it at least once or twice a week. Just an FYI for your smart shoppers. O! Be careful, you want to make sure you see the 2 after the core duo. You will buy the older proc.

^^ any idea if they update the OSs on the refurbs? If I were to buy one shortly after Leopard comes out, do you know if they would load that OS on it, or if it would still have what it had before?

It comes with whatever version is notated. They probably will ask you to buy Leopard for 200 bucks. Which truly is not bad for the type of OS you are getting. They may update the OS on the refurbs, I have not clue what Apple does at times. A win-win either way. ;)

I believe a refurb has the most recent OS freshly installed.
