Actually, looking around, it seems the Core Duo 2 series is up for a revamp very shortly with the 6x series all being upgraded to 4MB L2 cache rather than 2 in the low end models.

yes the core 2 duo E6600 Cnroe is the highest rated CPU with OCers at the moment. It eats even the Core 2 Extreme for breakfast. Paired with Evga / nVidia's nForce 680i mobo, its' doing some nifty tricks right now. For those considering to build a CPU, that combo is DEFINITELY the way ahead. Match it with some decent ram 4 gb ram and you have a kick ass system that'll serve you well for the next several years
