What source do you use for audio?

What hardware do you use?

What postprocessing do you do, and with which software?

I ask because I have a dvb card, which gives a respectable 192k radio 1, but only 128k kiss 100, and it is mp2... Is there any point converting mp2 to mp3?

you can use total recorder to rip net streams. i believe there are 6,000 versions of it so who knows what the latest and greateest is. that will record to a default Wav file so i use sound forge to convert them to mp3. ive never come across an mp2 file so dunno what to say about that. there are plenty of rippers out there though.

Thanks for the info Jibgolly.

I was thinking more about ripping from digital radio and digital tv which transmit as mpeg 1 layer 2 which is nearly layer 3 but not quite. Radio 1 DAB releases always seem to be 192k mp3 but it appears to only broadcast at 128k mp2, does it just get re-encoded at a higher bitrate to preserve quality?
