Buying a digital camera . . .
Re: Buying a digital camera . . .
how much would you like to spend ? what kind of use would you give it? how often you plan to use it? want a compact or a slr?
i visit this site http://www.steves-digicams.com/ to check steve's reviews. it was useful for me :) also visit http://www.dpreview.com for side to side comparisons
Re: Buying a digital camera . . .
Cannon Elf is from what I gather is one of the most solid of all compact "point and shoot" digital camera's. Powershot 450 does everything I need it to and more:idea:
Re: Buying a digital camera . . .
if your in the us... and u want a compact simple point and click get the Canon SD800IS powershot
Re: Buying a digital camera . . .

Re: Buying a digital camera . . .
I love my Canon SD700IS...it's great for portability and powerful enough for what I need it for. Looks like you want something a tad more powerful than the SD series...

Re: Buying a digital camera . . .
for a 100 bucks more you gain 4 megapixels. Also it is using the Digic III chip. Those are my true selling points for G7. Both are great cameras, and without the most recent release of the G7 I would picked the Powershot as well. The truth to the matter is 10+ megapixel is going to last you for a long time, and allows you to print beautiful large prints if need be without any loss of image quality.
main points for 100 bucks.
- 10+ megapixel
- Newest Canon Technology
to me those two factors make it worth the extra pay.
Re: Buying a digital camera . . .
that G7 looks like it would be a good buy...if I had the money for one.

Re: Buying a digital camera . . .
avoid at all cost the Sony, I simply hate mine. Canon is the way to go I believe
Re: Buying a digital camera . . .
i guess sony knows many different products, but just not cameras. I didn't care for their VCR's either.

like the G7, but i dont really think i need a 10 mgpxl camera tho. aside from the newest firmware in the G7 and the 10 mgpxl the s3 pretty much has everything i am looking for. the aforementioned on the G7 would be enough to sell me, but again dont really think a need a 10 mgpxls
Re: Buying a digital camera . . .
the one you've chosen looks amazing. i would go for that one too. good price/quality balance imho
Re: Buying a digital camera . . .

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/nikond60/
im looking to spend around 500-600$ for it... looking for 10+ mp and highest quality pictures available.
any updated recommendation would be really helpful :)
Re: Buying a digital camera . . .
^^ Thats a badass digicam ....cant lose with the Canon's though i have an SD700 and im very happy
Re: Buying a digital camera . . .
@ ddr, since the D60 has been around for quite a while, you can find that for sub $400 with a lens if you do some digging.
On another camera, anyone have the Canon XSi? I've been interested in that one as I'm a big fan of Canon controls, setup, design, etc. That thing has dropped to around $500 for the body so it's getting more and more attractive.
