Re: second life/entropia ????

more like computer sim cities -- at least Second Life is. I had read about it and gave it a go a few weeks ago. Pretty dull, IMO -- neat idea, but I prefer ACTUAL reality to this virtual world. Honestly, the most developed parts of Second Life seemed to be the porn-related areas -- anytime I looked at the map and saw large groups of people, I'd jump over there and find it to just be a bunch of pervs standing around looking at some virtual stripper.

This was fairly late at night, so maybe it's different during normal hours, but it didn't hold my interest enough to go back since.

Re: second life/entropia ????

I think it's a bit more than just porn, I was reading an article on it in business 2.0 explaining how you could create your business and actually make money, buy things - the economy is market driven (something you'll like sightless ;) ), they have more than 1 million "residents" people actually do spend their life on these things - think of a ultra real sim.

Re: second life/entropia ????

there was a report on BBC that triggered my interest. the owners are fearing that a couple who run a toon on the entropia game are about to ''cash in'' and they literally have millions in assests within the game. imagine that. free money.

Re: second life/entropia ????

well, when you think about it, it is money but if you have enough people valuing "second life money" - it would not mean that the assets of the company managing second life would actually decrease: you would have a bridge and you're just linking the two markets. would be fun to see. what do you think?

Re: second life/entropia ????

friend went to a conference.

said that top 10% of users (in hours spent in the game) average 80 hours a week in second life.

Re: second life/entropia ????

There was an artcle in plaboy about secod life last month. The featured woman makes $5000 in real life money running a strip club in game.

Re: second life/entropia ????

whoever pays real life money for a virtual island and real cash for virtual clothes and cars, and runs around and tries to pick up virtual vagina needs their ass kicked imo. i mean its not like i havent played online games at all, i was addicted to WoW for about 6 months until it took too much time to do anything meaningful, but i never bought gold.
