Nice and stable...which is good, becuase the last update I did w/1.6 screwed up a lot of things...thank god for backups.

Could also turn into v2 official if all works well; now alas, just have to wiat for some extensions to become compatible with it that I liked using...:what

Re: Firefox 2 RC3

seems like final realease is out.

anyone has problems with vbulletin keyboard shortcuts? i'm getting tired of missing posts because i press alt+s and nothing happens :(

Re: Firefox 2 RC3

[QUOTE] Originally Posted by DavidK Firefox 2 has changed the keyboard shortcuts for accessing the History menu.

It used to be: CTRL+H But in Firefox 2 it is now: ALT+S

In vBulletin and lots of other web applications and desktop software (Outlook for example), a standard keyboard shortcut for submitting forms is ALT+S. A lot of people on Bowlie may well find that their almost unconscious act of submitting a form now pops open the History menu in Firefox 2. There are two ways to solve this, either: Use the new Firefox specific shortcuts Use the updated Firefox 2 shortcut for web page shortcuts, this is to use SHIFT+ALT and then the web page shortcut you want.

So instead of pressing ALT+S you would now press SHIFT+ALT+S. or: Change Firefox to use the shortcuts you were familiar with

You can change Firefox 2's web page shortcut key and swap it with the menu shortcut key. This means to Submit in web forms ALT+S would work, and to get to your History menu, SHIFT+ALT+S would be needed. To change the shortcut keys:

  1. Enter 'about:config' in the address bar and press enter.
  2. Change ui.key.chromeAccess to have a value of: 5
  3. Change ui.key.contentAccess to have a value of: 4

This only affects Firefox 2 users of Bowlie who are used to using the ALT+S shortcut to submit posts, PM's, new threads, comments, etc.

Re: Firefox 2 RC3

They all don't work for me anyway, be it Alt + S or Shift + Alt + S (which I mentioned couple of posts up) 'cos I'm on a Mac at work.

Re: Firefox 2 RC3

I was already trying to get used to the shift+alt, but I like your method better

Re: Firefox 2 RC3

I hate that my developer toolbar has not been updated to be compatible with FF2, i kinda liked it. Tried installing the tab close button which should appear on the right corner (so you don't have to close each tab individually by clicking it's own close icon), but that doesn't work. Stealther also gives problems with some sites, they just won't load...but that feature is pretty obsolete anyway.

Re: Firefox 2 RC3

I want to try it out, but my FF is so modified and tweaked that I really don't feel like going through it all again. :what

:EDIT:

Got it installed and everything is running great.

Been using it and like it so far.

#739378Post 34 of 48

Re: Firefox 2 RC3

Got it installed as well. The upgrade was surprisingly smooth, all my extensions work or are updated, and my theme. It feels slightly ... sprightlier than before. Definitely a good improvement from 1.x

Re: Firefox 2 RC3

If anyone is using FF on a Mac and experienced problems with customizing their toolbars, try disabling your All-In-One Sidebar extension. Do that, customze your toolbar, reboot FF and enable the extension again.

loving the spell check -- very handy for forums like this -- and the search term suggestions are a great addition as well...
