So I want to install an intercom in my new house. Since I'll install my desk/study on the 1st floor, I want to prevent Erzina from shouting her ass off when dinner's ready (har har). The thing is that I don't feel much like installing a classic system, mainly because of the wiring plus the fact that the send/receive units will have to be on a fixed place (on the wall for instance).

Any of you creative minds have an alternative? And no, walkie talkies aren't an option :p

Re: Intercom system

where else would you put them instead of a wall? just do it in a wall... intercoms are easy. just plug in two phones together and splice a 9-V battery in the middle of one of the wires

Re: Intercom system

^^^ that two phones + battery actually works? How do you let it ring then?

Re: Intercom system

have you ever tried plugging headphones into a computer microphone jack and talking into the speaker? your voice hits the speaker and makes the soundwaves just as it would if you were talking into a microphone.

attach two speakers together with a 9-volt and the intercom is always on. put parallel pushbuttons in the circuit, and you have a speakerphone system that only works when the pushbutton is depressed. your battery should last for years.

Re: Intercom system

check this. it's such a simple concept that this site designed it for kids to do with their old boomboxes
