Re: how do you convert WAV to MP3

they take too long.

If you have a good enough system, I recommend Wingogo...small, light, and LAME(codec)-based.

Heres another one, and its free (actually Donation). I dont know if its the best, but I like it.

Whatever you go with like FM said, get one that uses LAME codec.

Re: how do you convert WAV to MP3

jenks bro, im am so old school with technology, i know whats up to date, but how to use it.........thats a different story. shit, ask ben or mike about my cell phone. i had the same nextel i80 for 6 years. only three weeks ago did i get a new one.

i have a universal DVD burner/recorder that is digital, along with my digital mixer...made things easy. i just ran the usb from one to the other, hit record, turned up the volume. never edited, nothing. just 100% live mixing. it is sick, you hear record static and the tiny needle pops... sound so clear and authentic like how oakies NYC and sasha's san fran GU's sounded with all the subtle noise you hear in a breakdown.

Re: how do you convert WAV to MP3

I use EAC with LAME. EAC is more for cd-ripping, but as part of its functions, it converts WAV to mp3. As long as you have LAME to encode, it'll be fine. Anything that uses it is just a frontend. There used to be a website called r3mix that was fanatical about encoding music for archival quality, lots of useful info there on how to encode and what settings, but the website seems to be gone :(

Re: how do you convert WAV to MP3

In itunes, import the wave file. Then under preferences, go to advanced, then importing, change the encoder to mp3, click ok. Now while in itunes, select the wave file in your library and click advanced in the top menu, then select convert selection to mp3. It will create an mp3 file in your itunes folder. And now all your life problems are solved and you can stop praying to god for forgiveness.

Re: how do you convert WAV to MP3

Alright, here is how to encode the perfect mp3.

 1. Download Razorlame (it's free 8))
 2. Download the newest recommended version of LAME, 3.97b2 (also free )
 3. Extract Razorlame and LAME codec into the same folder
 4. Start Razorlame
 5. Go to "VBR" tab and check "Use custom options"...enter -V 0 --vbr-new in the "custom option" box
 6. Enter source WAV into Razorlame
 7. click "Encode"
 8. Done

All of this info courtesy of Hydrogen Audio...where I've learned everything I know.

Re: how do you convert WAV to MP3

Yeah. EAC is your best bet in terms of "quality" ripping but you can also go with CDex if you're lazy and it's pretty fast. You can rip a 70 minute cd in like 43 seconds I believe. It's been quite a while.

ignore all that; scroll down I believe to 'agree' after installing (button's activated)...if not click on the "????" button (which is OK in English) on the next window to open up the program...rest is all in English.

Basic encoding can be at a CBR 192K for reasonable listening quality (or 224).

VBR takes longer but you can use it if you wish; better quality if the setting's right.

I encode my shows with this; 120 minute mix in CBR 192 takes less then 5 minutes...and I'm running an Athlon 800
