Recommendations for computer parts!!!
Re: Recommendations for computer parts!!!
deffinately AMD chip if i were you, cost less and have more performance, make sure you get a socket 939 chip and motherboard tbh there are many out there but they offer less latency and loads of performance.....get your mother board first and from there on you should then start thinking about chip and graphics cards as u will know the specs that your motherboard have but honeslty get a 939 chip/motherboard prefferably a dual core chip :) and this time make sure you have a power supply with enough rating to power all your components lol ;)
Re: Recommendations for computer parts!!!
Wow. He already stated that he wants an AMD processor and then you recommend that he should get one. :p
I also have to state that your recommendation of a socket 939 instead of mentioning AM2 is a bit alarming. Socket 939s are old, not bad, old... and AM2s are out and damn cheap. He might as go with what's out now since it won't cost him extra and he'll be better prepared for the next wave of AM2s to come out in the next phase. ;)

Re: Recommendations for computer parts!!!
want the best computer in the world ? it's Apple :) .. now all Apple new computers from macmini to macbookpro runs on intel core duo processor (very powerful processing) and therefore you can install windows and have both macintosh and windows on your Apple computer :)
Re: Recommendations for computer parts!!!
^ ^ The kid lives in a third world country. He's not gonna have the moolah for an Apple. ;) Nice try.
Re: Recommendations for computer parts!!!
as i was allways for AMD procs, i would say go for it....
but after i read this http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/showdoc.aspx?i=2795&p=4
i am really thinking on waitin half a year to get one of these....
Re: Recommendations for computer parts!!!
^ ^ You gotta remember that this kid doesn't live on the westcoast so he's gonna be shelling out an assload of money for anything that he gets.
Re: Recommendations for computer parts!!!
yes, thats right,
but if the prices for those intel procs are as they are announced for now, for a middle class you havet to pay like +300$, and AMD proc with same performances is around 900$,
so in any case, its better to go for it....
Re: Recommendations for computer parts!!!
I just got a 3800 X2 for $169 from Newegg. Don't know if it will be the same exact price for you, but they are definitely cheaper now.
Just like anything else, it all comes down to how much you want to spend. Give me an idea of what you'll be using it for and I'm sure between beanz and I we can guide you in the right direction.
Re: Recommendations for computer parts!!!
how about sending us few packages to EU??
you can write on them it is for caritas.....
Re: Recommendations for computer parts!!!
Send us your money and we'll gladly hook you up with stuff with our prices, plus a little incentive. ;) I don't know what you'd do about warranties though but if you buy the high end stuff, I'm sure that's not a problem. I can't think of the last time that I've ever had a part go out during the warranty period or in that fact, ever. It's been years. (/me knocks on wood.) :p
Re: Recommendations for computer parts!!!
oke, when are the next sales? hehe
Re: Recommendations for computer parts!!!
We've got all kinds of sales happening every week. I'm not kidding. There are tons of places to look online as well as the local computer shows and retail stores. I know some good retail sites online that have some great prices, when they go on sale.
Re: Recommendations for computer parts!!!
like newegg.com??
just went over the deals they have, my heart aches.....
Re: Recommendations for computer parts!!!
There are tons of sites. Let's see if I can remember them...
www.newegg.com www.frozencpu.com www.chiefvalue.com www.pcextremist.net www.coolerguys.com www.svc.com www.outpost.com www.monarchcomputer.com
Just to name a few. I know there are many more but I'd have to go searching. Keep in mind, they're not always the cheapest but they all have many sales on specific products and you gotta just go searching. Anyone remember the name of that one site that listed all parts, assload of retailers and you got special discounts just for going to that one site? It's a massive directory.
Re: Recommendations for computer parts!!!
Pricewatch?? I don't remember getting a discount whenever I ordered something from there.
Re: Recommendations for computer parts!!!
^ ^ I did. There were many places that if you told them you saw it was listed on pricewatch, you'd get a discount. Sometimes up to 30% off and free shipping. Those were the days.
Re: Recommendations for computer parts!!!
Damn. I know there are plenty of other sites too. I had a massive folder with bookmarks to most of them. I've bought my Lian-Li cases direct from the distributor for the world. Yeah, they reside over here in Orange County. Saved some major moolah that way.
Re: Recommendations for computer parts!!!
ahh, yes, what about some choppers, i want a chopper too... hehe
i will check out those sites after work.... thanks
