I'm looking to get my wife a little compact digital camera, not more than 300-350. I was looking at canon and sony mostly. What do you guys recommend. Do the extra pixels over 5 or 6 mp really make a difference, or a normal user wont even notice anything different?

takes jenks advice on the canons. I have the sd550 which is ok. the 450 will save you more money and is a touch smaller

I wouldn't go with the SD450 since you can now get the SD550 for around $230 and that's a good deal considering I bought my wife her's for a total of $340 back in October of last year. If you want to go "newer" and with some nice advancement and features, I'd go with the SD630 and you can find that for under $300 as well.

Ah crap. I just saw that you already made the purchase. You got it for under $200 right?

^ ^ You'll love it. So compact, light and damn easy to use. I know it's not the best camera by far but for what it does, it rocks. Canon makes the best menu setup and navigation styles. Everything is very easy to find.
