Critical Information About The Internet (Internet Discrimination)

Our internet as we know it may change if Congress and the Senate decide to push this through. This is very important and wanted to bring this to light for everyone ...
Congress is pushing a law that would abandon the Internet's First Amendment -- a principle called Network Neutrality that prevents companies like AT&T, Verizon and Comcast from deciding which Web sites work best for you -- based on what site pays them the most. If the public doesn't speak up now, our elected officials will cave to a multi-million dollar lobbying campaign.
Quick Q & A
What is network neutrality?

Network Neutrality — or "Net Neutrality" for short — is the guiding principle that preserves the free and open Internet.

Net Neutrality ensures that all users can access the content or run the applications and devices of their choice. With Net Neutrality, the network's only job is to move data — not choose which data to privilege with higher quality service.

Net Neutrality is the reason why the Internet has driven economic innovation, democratic participation, and free speech online. It's why the Internet has become an unrivaled environment for open communications, civic involvement and free speech.

Who wants to get rid of Net Neutrality?

The nation's largest telephone and cable companies — including AT&T, Verizon, Comcast and Time Warner — want to be Internet gatekeepers, deciding which Web sites go fast or slow and which won't load at all.

They want to tax content providers to guarantee speedy delivery of their data. They want to discriminate in favor of their own search engines, Internet phone services, and streaming video — while slowing down or blocking their competitors.

These companies have a new vision for the Internet. Instead of an even playing field, they want to reserve express lanes for their own content and services — or those from big corporations that can afford the steep tolls — and leave the rest of us on a winding dir
Re: Critical Information About The Internet (Internet Discrimination)

you pay the companies for your internet account so they shouldnt dictate what you can do with the time you spend during that payed period, this sounds like putting a speed resriction on the internet like you would with roads but the only thing is that you cant kill anyone driving bytes @ 1900 mph, man sometimes you american come up with some truly fucked up sudjestings ( no offence ).....if it were this country i seriously wouldnt take bullshit like that, there has to be some kind of law preventing them from doing this, thats truly f`kd up

red1, there's nothing like watching someone kill themselves on video while you're sitting there with a bucket of lard, rubbing yourself and getting off. ;)
