Re: Dell laptop explodes at Japanese conference
I hate Dell's laptops. They were nothing but problems for us when I worked in IT. An exploding Dell laptop doesn't sound that far-fetched.
Re: Dell laptop explodes at Japanese conference

Re: Dell laptop explodes at Japanese conference
I would never buy a Dell anyways. Shit systems, overpriced and poor performance.
Re: Dell laptop explodes at Japanese conference
short while back, Dell did a recall on a series of batteries, looks like this one didn't get the letter in the mail about it
Re: Dell laptop explodes at Japanese conference
There were two series of laptops that were known to leak and/or explode from Toshiba a year or two ago. It was a known and common problem with those laptops. I wonder how they're doing now.
Re: Dell laptop explodes at Japanese conference
This email was just forwarded to everyone in my office from one of the Health & Safety personnel here at work:
I had an inquiry from one of our folks concerning Dell Laptops and possibility of fire caused by battery overheating. I checked the Dell website and sure enough, there is a recall in effect (actually announced last December) for certain batteries. You basically have to pull the battery and check the serial number against Dell's inventory of affected batteries. If it is one that needs to be recalled, then you are automatically directed to an re-order form. See attached link. M

New email from the EHS guy at work
Good morning all, additional information for the Dell Laptop users and potential defective batteries.. Please make sure you check your laptop battery against the recall information on the Dell supported link below.. We have been informed that TSA is randomly checking these at airports during security screening and one of our travelers had his battery confiscated... If you will be traveling soon, it would be best to check the battery now to prevent problems of locating one after arrival at your final destination.
