...much thanks to Alex and Noah form Holosound!!

AMD Athlon? 64 X2 4200+ (Boxed, OPGA, "Manchester")
MOBO Asus A8R-MVP (Gb-LAN, RAID, FireWire) RAM Kingston ValueRAM DIMM 1 GB (KVR400X64C3AK2/1G) CASE Arctic-Cooling Silentium T5 GRAPHICS Club3D GeForce 7600GS (TV-out, DVI) HDD Western Digital Caviar RE (WD1600YD) 160 Gig SATA 2X

FINALLY a render won't take me all night anymore...sigh

Already have a CD-ROM writer, DVD-ROM writer, 1 Gig of RAM (so i'll have 4x 512 in there) and a Terratec producer Phase 22. :D It'll go in Serial ATA mode, ram = dual channel. Gonna be a fast fucker I hope! I was budget bound, but all in all that was pretty damn generous, and since I had a number of peripherals myself I could spend a lot on cpu/mobo/mem. It will be both a graphics and music machine...for mixing though, possibly producing later on.

Now I gotta save up for cd-decks and a widescreen tft...

Re: This is what I'm getting in september

^^^ is that already the new AMD chipset?

Re: This is what I'm getting in september

I have no idea...it's the Dual core AMD, I think it is pretty new. Wanted an Opteron at first, but they're a bit harder to get here (although I do have the connections for it). But I guess this one will do just fine ;)

And it left me more budget to get a good vid card and such...

Re: This is what I'm getting in september

Just asking cuz red1 told me a while ago that at the end of this year the new chip will become available... That's why I've postponed my buy. Maybe you should look into that.

Other than that, sexy config bro ;)

Re: This is what I'm getting in september

thanks mate :D I wish Icould postpone it, but given the incredibly slow rig I have now and the work i need to do with it, waiting isn't really an option, unfortunately. Any prices available for the new chipset yet?

Re: This is what I'm getting in september

Not sure how much you download, if at all, but I would consider a larger hard drive.

Re: This is what I'm getting in september

Sweet setup, dude. From what I remember you telling me about your old rig, the difference should be night and day. Isn't spending loads of money on a new computer fun??

Re: This is what I'm getting in september

Most definitely! Oh an Arielus, I already have on gig of RAM on this one, which will be put into the new mobo - should be exactly the same, so I'll have 4x 512 in dual channel :D

One other possibility is that I'll be going to Africa for another 3 months as a minimum, in that case I'll continue what I'm doing now but will have to opt for a laptop, preferrably with an AMD Turion dual core...as long as you hit the major cities in Africa the internet connections are pretty doable.

Fucking hell...I thought this stuff was going to be ludicrously expensive, but I can get it at about the same price. Look at the bloody busfrequency...2000!! Madness man :D

Re: This is what I'm getting in september

heck with that, 8GB of RAM...hahahahahahaha; that's along my lines

Re: This is what I'm getting in september

lol, IF you can afford it. Maybe later on when it has made me some money I can up it to 4 gigs, but I'll have to settle for 2 in the beginning. Nevertheless it should be fast as hell to begin with, and got my eye on a Dual core AMD 64 4000+ with 2 gigs of L2 cache...no more stalling ever!!! :D

wait, lemme post what I've been looking at right now - keep in mind that I have a 1300 dollar limit and need to keep some moving space because of the fluctuating exchange rates:

AMD Athlon? 64 X2 4000+ (Boxed, OPGA, "Windsor") MSI K9N Neo-F nF5 (Retail, Sound, Gb-LAN, RAID) G.E.I.L. DIMM 2 GB (GX22GB5300LDC - 533) Arctic-Cooling Silentium T5 Club3D GeForce 7600GS 2X 160 Gig Seagate Barracuda (ST3160812AS, S-ATA2, NCQ)

Total (SATA HDD/Arctic): 939 euro > 1205 dollar

I think I will opt for a little faster memory though, and I chose the vid card based on processor and mem speed (500mHz and 900mHz), has 12 pixel pipelines. The other peripherals are here already, so no need to buy those new ;)

By the time you read this, it will be over three weeks. ;)

Re: This is what I'm getting in september

So wait... this is for September? I think its pretty pointless trying to map everything out so many months in advance. New shit comes out every week and prices rise and drop every week. I'd wait till August and see where you stand. Or else you are going to be posting a new config every week.

Re: This is what I'm getting in september

Another thing, this machine will cost at least $1400 less come September. At the very least.

Re: This is what I'm getting in september

hahaha....I guess you're right Palmer, maybe it's just because I can't wait to have a new one. Beanz, this rig is 1200 right now, how would you think it's 200 more in 2 months?

#655977Post 23 of 25

Re: This is what I'm getting in september
Beanz, this rig is 1200 right now, how would you think it's 200 more in 2 months?
First of all, I never said that any system would cost $1400. I stated that a system would cost $1400 LESS come September and I was referring to assfuck_admin's ( ;) ) system of choice. Not yours.

Haha, i see it now Beanz, my bad. Misread it completely...
