yeah read that hideo expect much more of it..... wonder what would do in a ps4 or something like that....think that game fills about 90% of the blyray disc that is about how much? 50gb? or how much does it have a blueray disc?...

wonder if he would release another metal gear in the future...

^^^ I have no clue if it's a single or double layer Bluray (if it's called this way for Bluraydiscs at all) so don't know whether it's a 25 or 50 GB disc. I only know that 4 GB were installed on the PS3 hard drive and you saw Snake smoking during the installation...love it when things are NOT politicaly correct. :p

I received my copy yesterday but I will leave it alone because I first must finish Mass Effect on the PC but only Lord knows when I can find the time for it lol..I installed it and took a brief look at it and it looks amazing..can't wait to play the whole Game.

It should state on the case if it is a dual-layer blu-ray disc. The ones that are dual-layer, that I've seen, bear that distinction. They have already announced that there is serious consideration of a MGS5 but this was confirmed as Solid Snake's last mission. He's old. The next one is supposed to have some fat midget that's a cross between Chris Tucker, Jackie Chan, George Clooney and Oscar Robertson.

coz on here the one with 40gb and only the playstation without the dual shock 3 is around 550 usd, or maybe 600....

FFXIII just got announced to 360 so anything is possible, If mgs4 goes to the 360 the PS3 will most likely be a useless cheap blu-ray player

^and to answer some of those previous questions, yeah it uses a dual layer blu-ray disc about 52gb but that is because the game is filled with uncompressed sound... it could easily fit on 2 DVD9's whenever the 360 version gets announced and it will stop those painful 15 minute installations each chapter.

I'm not a 360 fanboy but if you guys bought the PS3 because you thought it was going to be like the PS2 then I guess some of you are fucking doomed.

That's the only thing I find pretty annoying playing MGS 4..each new chapter new data is installed on the hard drive. I wonder why they don't just offer an option to install everything in the beginning. I rather wait one time a bit longer instead of having these stupid breaks after each chapter.

But other than that...MSG 4 is an experience and not just a Game. The Game is filled with so much fanatism for details and provides a diverse Gameplay, you can play it the way you wanna play it (sneaking or killing everything like in a Shooter) and the way the story is told is just mind blowing..never experienced a feeling in a Game like this before. The sound of the Game is amazing as well so I am glad for the PS3 version with uncompressed sound. Also the cutscenes are not just cutscenes...they are almost art and better made than many Movies. The martial arts choreographies just rock as well and it surely costed a lot of money to make them but the result is just state of the art and setting the mark high for Future Games. I mean only their senseless faked advertisement videos you see in the beginning when you start a Game or don't do anything in the Menu is more than you get in other Games alltogether.

Yesterday I passed the 2nd chapter and the transition with all different cutscenes went on for almost an hour and it really feels like watching a movie. :shock: I hope when you finish the Game you will have an option to rewatch all cutscenes somehow. Each time I think this can't get any better, it GETS better..the first time when I saw the "boss monsters" (that laughing Octopus lady and the rest of her team lol) in action I got chills down my spine because of the fantastic staged action but yesterday evening I saw the fight between Raiden and those walking robots (Geckos I think) and later his fight with Vamp...Jesus Christ on a pogo stick now THAT was impressing. Feeling like a fanboy to rave so much about it but this Game is a gift. Especially when you are ill and have to stay at home anyways. :) Were previous MGS episodes so intense as well? I mean besides maybe worse graphics..I played one MGS part which came out for the PC and the Game sucked donkey balls so I never understood the fascination and cult behind it but I start to realize what it is all about.

Slightly on topic but I know that there was interest in the 80GB PS3 (w or w/o MGS4) and lots and lots of shops got new shipments this week. Talking by the dozens so if you want a PS3 with partial PS2 BC, you can find them easily.

Yep. That article says it all. They weren't even going to include the BC 80GB version of the PS3 here with the MGS4 package as it was built with the 40GB standard version in Japan.

i read in an interview recently with one of the Sony big wigs saying that the reason for them abandoning backward compatibility is simply because the PS2 still has a strong enough market and demand for people to go out and buy one rather than depending on the partial backward compatibility that the PS3 provides

it does make sense but in the big picture they just want more money out of the consumers

The big perk about the BC in the PS3 was upscaling. That's why I enjoy it. I still have my PS2 and the games look like complete ass on a 57" screen vs. playing the same PS2 games through my PS3.

The loading times are much faster. I would assume the image quality is better because of the upscaling but then, it's trying to smooth it out so it's tolerable on a larger screen. If you still had a small television, say... 30" or less, you probably wouldn't care and would still use the PS2.

does anybody have past this game in less than 5 hours and with no kills no alarms to get the big boss emblem? is freaking hard, the fastest time i had is 8 hours 17 minutes on solid normal(my second play) guess i need practice :D

Hate rushing through Games...never even tried. But speedruns are nice to watch sometimes. Maybe this one in 3 episodes for Act 1 gives you a bit of inspiration. ;)
