I'm a HUGE rpg fan, nothing like sitting back and nerding out over your quest for hours. The following rpgs i have completed:

Star Ocean (the second story) Vagrant Story Final Fantasy 7 Final Fantasy 9 Final Fantasy X-2 Xenosaga Xenogears Chrono Trigger Chrono Cross

I've also played pretty much every rpg out there, so what rpgs are you guys into?

also if you need help on any of the ones i mentioned above, feel free to ask me.

and if you want to discuss any rpgs feel free to do so

Re: the [ms] rpg thread...

i'm playing knights of the old republic right now. i hate star wars, but the game is pretty fun. i like the open ended ones, not the final fantasy nonsense.

Re: the [ms] rpg thread...

if you want open ended. play oblivion. seriously. there is a reason it is getting the best reviews ever, and if you have 360 everyone on your list is playing it. fucking sick game, so in depth, plenty of action, do whatever you want, or dont , but the game itself draws you in.

i.e. if you were to let your game sit for an hour, you would come back to someone giving talking to you asking for help with something. you could help them, you could find what they need and keep it or ignore them. and the plot lines in the side stories are sick the thieves guild alone accounts for about 10 hours of play.

Re: the [ms] rpg thread...

open ended rpgs are cool, but my chief complaint about them is they are usually in first person. I CANNOT STAND FIRST PERSON RPGS, that shit gives me a headache. does anyone else have this problem?

Re: the [ms] rpg thread...

I am currently involved with Runescape. Its a somewhat cheesy Java based RPG, but I can play it at work and thats what counts most. I never really liked RPG, unless you can count GTA:SA as a role playing game, but I am kinda liking this so far.

Anyone else play? (you can find it on www.miniclip.com)

In college, a guy in my fraternity, on a full ride from Thialand, flunked out becuase he got so engrossed in everquest he stopped going to class. He would lock him self in his room, smoke cigarettes and play for 48 hours straight and then sleep for 12. Good times.

Re: the [ms] rpg thread...

Tom was just telling me about oblivion yesterday and how he's sucked into the Game. He sent me several screen shots to show what his Dual SLI 7800 nvidia's were pulling and the resolution was nothing short of numbing.

Re: the [ms] rpg thread...

I'm playing OBLIVION as well. Great game, nice graphics, but I too fall into the "i suck at it" I'm level 5, and have decent armor/weapons and above average skills. For whatever reason I can't seem to put out damage against enemies. Goblins take forever to kill even when I do a sneak attack for the bonus. I comes to the point that each engagement lasts forever and I get almost no loot out of them. There seems to be a lack of equipment to purchase as well. Everywhere I go, I see the same crap weapons, iron, steel.... nothing "better" Just some complaints. Everything else is great.

That's because the Game uses a new system of level-scaling. When you get better, the enemies get better as well. Also, the weapons and armor you find are depending on your level and grow with you. This level-scaling stops though once you have reached Level 20-25 and the enemies become way easier to defeat. Until you reached this point, I can only advice to turn the difficulty level slightly to the left before you bite your lips.

Re: the [ms] rpg thread...

Best games ever: (in order)

Dragon Warrior 3 Final Fantasy 1 Dragon Warrior 4 Final Fantasy 7 Chrono Cross

I haven't played any RPGs in a while... now that I live alone I should probably start so I don't end up drinking my money away

I also forgot about that difficulty slide bar. I recall moving it to the right a good 25%, LOL i'm such a newb.

to the right? Dayam. That Game was already hard with the default settings for fights with some of the enemies. I had to put that slider to the left occasionally when I had to deal with creatures like Spider-Daedras. Well done.

Re: the [ms] rpg thread...

i play it harder a bit. but i took my time and made a custom class for my style.

i have a khajit thief/assassin. strong stealth and AGI, good str and endurance, and lesser other stats. the only other 2 non combat skills i have that are main skills and leveled are security and stealth. i use the akavari katana as a sword vs live things and bloodthorn against undead and ghosts. i have this sick ass longbow and use silver arrows and some specail arrows that drop from a guy in wedeke. armorwise i usually have the outfit from the theives guild but i have upgraded to some serious shit from quests that i wont talk about as it will spoil some plotlines...

but seriously, everything GTA did for games, this game nearly perfected. i have never ever seen AI like this and the fact that every single character has thier own AI and random schedule is amazing. i robbed this guy's house and later on i found out he joined the dark brotherhood. simply amazing.the closing of the gates is tough as shit though.

HAS ANYONE FINISHED THE THEIVES GUILD? if so, dont spoil it for those wot didnt. but lemee know how cool the ending is., cuz i loved

Re: the [ms] rpg thread...

well, my character is a THIEF birthstone and I went ARCHER. Although I haven't been able to find any bows. The best Bow I found was the Fine Iron(or steel, I forget), which was an improvement over the Steel Bow because it didn't weigh as much and had the same attach dmg. Has anyone been to Goblin Jim's cave yet? It's north of Staingrin (or whatever) and its a nice dungeon.

#632245Post 19 of 32

Re: the [ms] rpg thread...

staingrin? no clue there, maybe euro version has different names....

all the cities begin with A, B, or C outside of imperial city.

#632254Post 20 of 32

Re: the [ms] rpg thread...

I'm sure you've heard of it, Its SW of Imperial City and its actually called Skingrad Directly north of it is the cave and it's pretty huge. If you talk to the Fighter Guilds in Skingrad they may rumor you about the cave or Jim himself. He's actually a human that has this undead summon and does invisible as well. I never beat him so it's why I ask. He carries a nice red axe so I'm wondering if its worth it =)

#632284Post 21 of 32

Re: the [ms] rpg thread...

always worth it. ill help you out. when you get there. take all your shit off that dont help in melee. butput anything on that helps marksman. sneak mode. get as far away as you can in sneak with a directl line of fire. use silver arrows if you can get them and rifle off 2-3 arrows while you stay sneak. if you are good, he wont detect you until the second or third shot. keep firing at HIM, ignore his summon. when he starts running, charge at him, and use any scrolls or spells to damage him

I was there 2 days ago but did not kill Jim...well I did but went back to an older save game because I did not have a quest to kill him. Good to know it?s a quest from the Fighters guild. He is not hard to beat and his axe is useless (at least for my Level 27 battlemage)

i'm currently playing that now armed with the online guide even though its the japanese version ... just couldnt wait for the english version to be released in oct-nov

the game has stunning gfx the best by far imo and with my limited understanding of japanese it has also the best game plot in the entire series imo ... just cant get enough of this game

i'll probably be getting the english version as well and play it all over again when it comes out :D

#633212Post 26 of 32

Re: the [ms] rpg thread...

nice to heard that....till oc-nov damn that is way to much timeee....i want it now...but well....does it have an enemy as hard as the other? i think it does ....... like ultima weapon or something like that........is it have the same gameplay as FF7 & FF8 or is like FF10-2 that sux.....???

Re: the [ms] rpg thread...

I like these rpgs a lot: Fallout 1 Fallout 2 Deus Ex

#633337Post 28 of 32

Re: the [ms] rpg thread...

^^^ i havent gotten that far into the game yet but from what i read from the guide so far ... those standard hard as hell optional summon bosses are still there ... but the game itself is a totally different thing now with the new interface ... imagine it being a mashup of the old final fantasy interface and how a MMORPG works ... it sounds kinda weird and it does take awhile to get used to but once u're used to the new gameplay the entire game is pretty neat

Re: the [ms] rpg thread...

I'm big into WoW at the moment. I'll probably pick up Anarchy Online once I put XP on my computer though. Anyone played it? I'm also big into the Shadow Hearts series, which is on PS2. Highly underrated RPG imo. I'd like to pick up Chrono Cross one of these days along with FF8. Xenogears is another awesome game. I have yet to finish any of the Xenosaga series but they seem equally good.
