You´ll have to register, but it´s free, and you can find drivers for basically anything there.

Pay attention to motherboard, chipset, etc., when you´re looking for the drivers.

going for the windows default ... does his mobo have onboard sound installed ? if so then you should be able to enable it in the Bios. Onboard sound usually refers to AC97 and should be put on enabled IF he has onbourd sound.

On the other hand if the person using an Audigy card has driver problems then he might want to check out the kxproject.com. Kx drivers sorted my problems with my Audigy card.
