i DJ with Sennheiser HD-280 Pro's but I am looking for something smaller. I hate the in-ear headphones (ipod headphones), they hurt my ears. What is good to use with a mp3 player?

and any mp3 player input? im assuming the 60gig video ipod is the best mp3 player avail.

i just got myself a set of shure's e4's over the holidays and i have been using then almost non stop since i got them. they are the in ear type, but the part that goes in the ear is a soft rubber and isn't nearly as uncomfortable as the hard plastic ones that come standard with everything.

they even recommend that you wrap the wire over your ear and have the ear peice sit with the ear. kinda hard to describe, but when worn this way they feel non-existant.

the sound quality is also unbeatable for the size. the downside to that is that any hiss or lack of sound quality in downloaded sets is only more apparent.

check'em out. i'm very impressed. on ebay they run about half the cost of the retail cost of 300 bucks.

no, i didn't try them out first. i was a bit skeptical at first because they are so damn expensive for just a little pair of headphones. so it was a bit of a gamble, but i was drooling over them for so long that i had to buy them.

i have a fairly good high end home entertainment system at home and i was shocked that the sound out of these little guys beat the sound out of all the speakers i have set up.

the sound isolation is definately part of what makes them great. you can have them at a low volume level anywhere (including on city streets) and get clear sound without having to crank the volume all the way up.

i've heard that the problem with in ear headphones is that you hear you're footsteps or you're heartbeat or something, i've forgot. anyone having this problem. those shure headphones look mighty tasty but i'm a bit afraid it's not going to sit well in my ear, def. when worn a long time.

:lol: well thats kinda true. what i've found out with mine (and i would imagine most sound isolation headphones) is that the earpiece kinda seals your ear off. so you start to notice more of the noises that happen within your body. for me it was the sound of me breathing that i noticed right away. if you stick you fingers in your ear and breathe you kinda get the same effect. although you really only notice these sounds when there is no sound going through the earphones.

i can see why people are starting to give warning to hearing loss with headphones. these things kinda scare me how loud they can get. i have found that the volume on my mp3 player is way lower than were it used to be without the outside noise.

as for fit, if you keep the wire behind your ear and run it over the top of your ear and put the ear piece in it feels like almost nothing is there, but the tug of the wire. look closely at the girl in the picture on their site she is wearing them this way. If you want to go budget quality try those new Sony in-ear plugs. Doing a great job for me so far, although they seem a bit more fragile than the Shures, to be honest. Have them for almost 3 weeks now, and not real complains yet. Neodymium 9mm drivers make them go 100dB....

Ive been using those for my ipod for over three years now. The best thing about them is that Im not too afraid to lose them or break them as they arent that expensive. I actually did break them a year ago, Im on my second pair now. For the money, they sound quite tasty!

i got the e2's. they're badass, and not quite so expensive as the e4 or e5 models. fantastic sound quality.

had the shures for a while but imo those are too dangerous when wearing in public. u can´t hear anything except the music. also they are pain to put into your ears and ear wax builds up really fast..

better: creative ep-603 cheap, simple and convenient, soundquality on par with shure e2, enough and not too much isolation.

in fact is use them with my ipod mini, unbeatable and hassle-free combination.

another advice: attach a clip to the cord in order to eliminate the feeling that some weight is pulling on the plugs in your ears.
