Yep just like the title says I got a video ipod for christmas, I?m really new at this and don?t quite get how itunes works .

I have a few questions:

You don?t get a sotfware to convert videos to mpg4 wich is the format that the ipod supports. Can I rip my dvds convert them and play them on the ipod?

Is there something better than itunes?

Is there a way to get rid of the pause between tracks?

Any accesories I should buy?

So if anyone can give me tipps tricks and cool websites would be much apreciated

Re: I got an ipod

i saw this i-dj mixer which allows you to dock 2 ipods...it seems there is no pitch control, probably a complete waste of money.

Re: I got an ipod

u can use 'ephpod' for filetransfering, maybe your ipod (depends on the region) has a volume cap. i think u can remove it with the latest 'gopod' version.

moreover did i buy a battery pack in case of being away from any recharge possibilities on longer trips. look out for 3rd party stuff on ebay. apple simply charges overblown prices for this add on crap. maybe u might also need a case. i got the mini which has a very robust and scratch resistant aluminium casing, so no need for the extra protection.

Definitely visit www.ipodlounge.com (or it might be www.ilounge.com) that will answer all your questions.

In answer to the gap between tracks - there is no easy way to get rid of it no, bit of a bummer if you record any compilations onto the ipod which I do. There is a convuluted way of doing it, all is explained at the above website^

Good luck

Put the CD in. Highlight all the tracks, select advanced from the menu on the top of the screen, and select the option 'join cd tracks'. Then click import.

Re: I got an ipod

 you must have been really good this year.

heres a page i found a while back explaining very clearly how to convert dvd's to mp4. and all the associated programs are free.

http://www.engadget.com/2004/12/21/how-to-get-videos-and-dvds-onto-your-sony-playstation-portable/

the page was written for the psp, but it also uses mp4's for its video. for the ipod just skip over the whole psp part and get down to where they talk about the video conversion.

the only thing i haven't been able to do is rip movies with subtitles or forced subtitles. does anyone know of a program that will capture the subtitles as well?
