Well, I woke up this morning to some awful news. It appears that Winmx has ceased operation due to pressure from the recording industry here in the states. After being on Winmx for close to 5 years, I am depressed as hell, in shock, & angry. It is very difficult for me to say more about my feelings at this moment.

Doesn't really matter to me. WinMX sucked with its extremely low download speeds.

Winmx ruled! It kept all the idiots off, which is why it survived. The "Open Nap" was so fucking cool. You could find anything you wanted. Bummer to hear this.

I never realized that people still used that worthless piece of shit program. Although I did get the new Backstreet Boys album from there. Pretty tight I must say.

I haven't used MX in years, I hardly ever use SS either. Like Pickle said, [ms] supplies me with all the crack I can handle, and if not, don't even get me started on Proton/Frisky/etc.

fucking winmx worked and worked well. You just had to have brain to use. It will be missed.

For some weird reason I woudl use winmix for like 2 mins and my compuetr would carp out each time. So slsk was the choice for even thought the serach engine isn't as tight as it used to be.

I have not found soulseek that great either, there just seems to be massive q's for everything. Lots of people rave about it so maybe I have the wrong one or something as there are lots of variations. Could someone clarify the best one to use please?

soulseek is supreme when it comes to getting music and you wouldn't have to que if you shared alot of music . music is like money the more you have got the more you can get . i share over 260 gig ( a few on MS can back up this claim ) so everyone adds me to their userlist. programmes like soulseek are based on give and take if u have very little to give people won't let you take from them

One of the saddest things about this situation is because of some assh*** organization here in the U.S., now the entire world has lost Winmx.

Many articles I have today on this situation say that 6 other p2p's received the same stop or be sued letter this week, so we may not have seen the end of this yet. No article i have read seemed to know the identity of all the other 6. Only Winmx, Limewire, & Bearshare have been identified.

but you must fix the patch this is how you can do it:

there is a problem with the patch you can edit it make the necessary changes and it works. If you downloaded the patch and placed it in it's proper directory here is what you can do to fix it. goto my computer go to hosts file in directory my case windows xp c: windows system32 drivers etc hosts double click on hosts a list will come up choose program you want to edit this choose wordpad make the corrections ( you need a space between each IP ) there is also a c missing after the changes it worked in a few seconds.

i never had the patience to work with winmix...doesnt matter to me if its closed down,but i feel bad for those who were using it for so long :roll:
