what do you tnink about it?
"Processor: 6.8GHZ CPU (AtomChip? Quantum? II processor / System Compliance: Two Operating Systems with Voice Command (Microsoft? Windows? XP Professional and Linux?) / Memory: 1TB Quantum-Optical non-volatile RAM (NvIOpSRAM-SODIMM 200-pin) / Storage: 2TB non-volatile Quantum RAM (NvIOpRAM-ATA IDE)"
Pretty fast. Would like to test drive this thing and see how it holds up. Seems likes some of their numbers are pushed a little. Pretty cool though.
Re: AtomChip? SG220-2
I hate drooling over stuff I cannot afford....
Re: AtomChip? SG220-2
Well I like to see thouse things, but I can?t buy it, I?m happy with muy new laptop, Compac nc6120 is big and heavy buy for 800 euros I think is a good shop
Re: AtomChip? SG220-2
These look suprisingly simular to the averatecs:

Is this thing for real? how could they develop this type of chip technology without an R&D budget like Intel?
it's not like you can create chips in the garage with some old ass soldering gun.
Re: AtomChip? SG220-2
the possabilities are endless with this technology.
Re: AtomChip? SG220-2
Yeah, bc it's bullshit!
Re: AtomChip? SG220-2
It does almost seem too good to be true, but it is way too expensive for me to find out first hand..
Pretty sweet though
Its obviously fake.
Since when does xp address 1TB of RAM?

Re: AtomChip? SG220-2
Well,i think this is a very good site,i like it!Thanks! :!:
Re: AtomChip? SG220-2
^^ I agree it's fake.
I really don't think some type of start-up can develop something like this...
too much $ for R&D let alone fabrication equipment.
Also, how hot would that chip run? especially in a laptop....
This is using completely different technologies than the standard electron/ wafer setups that we seen until now. Its using some sort of solar cell with memory. It would be much cheaper to produce than whats needed for current wafer style chips. Its also using light for bits rather than electrons which as you probably already know moves much faster. Regarding heat of the chip, I suspect that since its not using electron switching and instead a laser beam its going to run much cooler. Its also holographic in terms of memory so, as the article states, they can stack bits which explains the dramatic increase in memory (3D bit storage, without additional wafers)..
I don't doubt that its real for one second.
Its obviously fake.
Since when does xp address 1TB of RAM?
:Crack Up:
Umm, actually since this is a 64bit chip and would mostly likely be running the 64bit ver. of XP, this would increase the maximum RAM limit to 16TB. Actually the limitation is only caused by the address bus on the processor, since most of the processors that we have been using on 32 bit systems only had a 32 bit bus we have been limited to 4GB limit.
http://www.tech-faq.com/address-bus.shtml
ok thats all well and good but explain to me why we haven't heard of this before...... if this is all legit why aren't these guys on the cover of every magazine on the planet?
Re: AtomChip? SG220-2
^ Exactly...why aren't they on the cover of PC World?
Slashdot has a posting of this and they're saying it's bullshit...
What gets me in how cheesy the Atom Chip website is. They can develop some alien technology type of chip but can't build a decent website

I saw the same slashdot posting a couple days ago. Maybe you should change your threshold there. Just because its a technology site doesen't mean that everyone that posts there is intelligent. You failed to see the stuff that indicated otherwise:
CES 2005 Awards Honorees page: http://cesweb.org/attendees/awards/innovations/rd_2005honorees.asp?category=48
So now your going to tell me CES is in on this hoax too?
They did not have this particular notebook present at CES 2005 but are instead going to present it at CES 2006, though they did win an award for another notebook they presented which used the same technologies but were just not running at these specs:
At the CES-2005 the company Compu-Technics, Inc. (partner of the company Atom Chip Corporation) demonstrated two new models of the first wireless notebook computer on the market without a Hard Drive. For the first time ever in consumer computers 100GB and 256GB AtomChip@ Non Volatile-RAM/Storage and 4.0GHz AtomChip@ CPU were used in both computers. SG111 was the only one to receive an Award in the Computer Components category for Design & Engineering. SG220 was not submitted for a nomination because the same new components were used in it as in SG111.
Their patents must be fake too: http://www.patentstorm.us/patents/5718983.html http://www.patentstorm.us/patents/5673220.html
Interestingly enough when you look up the domain owner its the same guy on that patent: http://dnsstuff.com/tools/whois.ch?ip=atomchip.com
Having a good website doesen't mean shit especially since they are in the developmental stage of their products. I imagine once they hit the marketing stage and have distributors lined up the site will change into the nice flashy site you were expecting.
Yeah you have a good point. I mean he won a bulgarian academy award for "The complete innovation activity"... must be legit
I guess you didn't see this picture from their R&D dept either... looks like some serious benchmark testing going on. So serious infact... hazmat suits and lawn furniture were required.

A patent you say? That shit holds no weight. With all the changes that are made in electronics they practically hand the fucking things out... as goes to show here http://www.newscientist.com/article.ns?id=dn965
Come on man... I'll keep going.
The memory module. http://atomchip.com/db4/00366/atomchip.com/_uimages/256Mx6M.jpg
Are you kidding me? Clearly audio jacks. Housing this "quantum ram"? Right.
Not to mention... their video http://www.compu-technics.com/images/solar%20memory.WMV
How are 4 processors housed in a laptop case lasting for 8 hours? If this is in fact as revolutionary as he claims... why put it in a laptop anyway? there is a statement on the site about it being geared towards "serious users"... so why the laptop?
Look at all this random shit glued together

It's something you would see late night on the Cartoon Network....
Re: AtomChip? SG220-2
after carefully studying each post and link i come to the only conclusion possible :smells l:
Re: AtomChip? SG220-2
You may laugh at the company, but supaz don't call it 'alien technology'. Quantam computing has been talked about for a very long time now and been in development for ages.
The main hurdle they have to overcome is that for these types of computers to work they have to be used in very low temperatures.
If a quantam computer made the market it would be on the front page of every newspaper in the entire world they are that revolutionary - not just on slashdot. And they would be a lot faster than 6ghz
Re: AtomChip? SG220-2
Oh the other funny thing to note: If it was a quantam processor there is currently not a single operating system in the world which could even run on it yet!
How can you write an o/s for an architecture that doesn't exist!
Re: AtomChip? SG220-2
i think the launch date for the atomchip sg230-3 ultra is april 1st 2006

I don't believe they reversed engineered this chip from Hangar 18....geez

Re: AtomChip? SG220-2
i can't believe there are still people believing this thing ain't a fake .. the sony duo 1 gig stick that u can put in cameras and psp's is prob the smallest solid state ram u can get they have invested lots of money to get it that small . and this things is supposed to have the equivalent of a 1000 of these at 20 times the core speed .. and i wouldn't like to even guess how they manufactured the terrabite harddrive ( or is it flash that the other terrabite is on ) anyhows anyone still defending something as real as father christmass should get out more
or
buy my replicator just like the ones on startrek (i know it looks like a microwave )but at ?10k it's a steal
they are a real company. as i stated earlier ... their stats are a little off. i think they tested their hardware and gave the highest clock speed or added a bunch of Mghz.. fiber is the way to go ... but the cost is not so consumer friendly. This technology is possible ... i am just not sure how they bench'd those numbers. the "scarp" website does not make it any better. they have been at some "pro" trade shows ... two things are going on. a ... they have a terrible designer ... b ... they are company that have pushed numbers to go public and make their money and run. c ... they are real, the stats are real, and the hardware is real. you decide the two.

http://www.compu-technics.com/images/solar%20memory.WMV
indeed. that video is fucking horrible. :x
Re: AtomChip? SG220-2
look google the damn thing .. there are around 200 pages of ppl saying it is a hoax and no fucker has heard of them . until this .. there's even a nice lil bit about them cutting and pasting on photo shop to achieve that windows "system profile" http://www.osnews.com/comment.php?news_id=11784&offset=75&rows=90&threshold=-1
someone has gone to a lil bit of trouble to make it believable but all these universities websites that i havn't heard of all look identical and equaly as crap as the atomchip website . also no big company has any backing in the project. and no magazine i know of has done a feature on it or has had a whisper it was in the pipeline let alone fully complete .. i even popped onto a couple of ubernerd sites like overclockers and u know what them guys are like and there is simply no evidence that this thing exists.
i also did some researching ... found a few sites that discredit and credit atom chips. i have my doubts. it looks good on paper, but i can imagine that there would be some heat issues. there is a reason apple G5 laptops do not exsist ... they melt everything. with a clock speed of 6+ plus were are talking some major heat. A laptop would not do ... you would need at least a desktop ... with half of it being dedicated to cooling.
Re: AtomChip? SG220-2
I'm tired of arguing this especially when people don't put the facts together. The tell tale sign will be CES 2006 conf in January.
A couple points though:
This is not actually quantam computing, its just a name they've given to their product as did one of the HD makers did in the early 90's (Quantam fireball was the name IIRC). Quantam computing uses qubits which are able to hold multiple states. If you guys can mistake this for quantam computing, I don't think your judgements can really be take seriously. Again take a look at the CES 2005 notebook they presented. Even CES notes there was no harddrive, what was that, magic? If this was a hoax I don't think you would see their booths reserved at the 2006 conf.
Asdf- they would generate major heat if their processor was using electron switching processors that we do today. But as they claim, its based on switching light hence, the lower electrical usage, faster speeds, and reduced heat. I know for a fact that they are not the only ones though most have been looking into using leds rather than lasers.
Re: AtomChip? SG220-2
the argument isn't about the theoretical .. this is about common sense . go on www.geek.com these guys surf the magazines and manufacturers constantly and there is nothing on there that comes close to the atomchip notebook . one day comps like that will be available to us all but not for a decade or so. all uve seen in way of proof is hilarious pics / a piss funny video and a booking on a ces stand .. this is a con to gain money from investors . do u honestly think some company no one has ever heard of has somehow leapfrogged pentium/amd/sony/hewlitt packard and nasa on inventing a super proccessor and also created the fastest and most compact ram eva invented .. with fuckall money and the help of universities no-one has eva heard of :Rolling: also try finding an address/ telephone number or a supplier of these comps
sometimes it's better to let ppl think ure a fool . other than open ure mouth and remove all doubt.
Re: AtomChip? SG220-2
Just bc they got a booth at CES doesn't mean they are legit. There was plenty of vaporware companies back in the bubble that only had a concept/blueprint vs. an actual product.
The bottom line factor to all this ==> if they had a legit product, they would of received some type of press. Also, venture captialist would of poured truckloads of money to develop this product to fruition. It appears that this didn't happen.
Dear Sir/Madme,
We only need $10,000 to help finsh new tech.
Sincrily, Shimon Gendlin
neoee I'm not arguing about the real world possibilities of this... I just think the company is bullshit.
Here's a good rule of thumb as to whether or not a company is legit. If you wanted to purchase something from their site, would you be comfortable plugging in your creditcard number?
By the way, two more pictures added to the site.

what would be the point in wearing the hazmat suit if your going to fat-finger the chips with bare hands?

It's pretty fucking misleading though when they refer to the processor as the quantum processor!
