Downloading MS sets with Mozilla Firefox

I installed Mozilla Firefox 1.0.6 a couple of days ago because I'm sick of IE. Everything has been great except when I try to download sets at MS. The password seems ok but I never get the save box that I use to get using IE.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

check your popup blocker settings.

Tools, Options, Web Features, Allowed Sites (next to Block Popups), and add www.mercurynation.com to the list.

Thanks, that was it...

Re: Downloading MS sets with Mozilla Firefox

Wait, seems like that was not the problem. I've also tried disabling the whole pop-up blocker and still don't get it. Any other ideas?

Re: Downloading MS sets with Mozilla Firefox

After putting the password and clicking ok, the window refreshes and gets stuck saying "Transfering data from 127.0.0..." at the bottom left.

are you connecting to the net via a proxy or through another computer on your home network?

Re: Downloading MS sets with Mozilla Firefox

I'm connecting through a Wireless Modem (Linksys)

you've never had this problem with Internet Explorer?

Try this:
[]right-click on your Firefox shortcut and go to properties. []In the Target field, add /P to the end after the quotes. It should look something like this: "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" /P []Click OK []Run the Firefox shortcut that you just changed []Click the Create Profile button []Click the Next button []Type Test as the profile name and click Finish []Single-click Test and click the Start Firefox button.
Log in to MercuryNation and try downloading a set. Let me know if this works. Also follow the first step to remove the /P.

Re: Downloading MS sets with Mozilla Firefox

Sjould the Create Profile button appear within the Properties window of the Fire Fox shortcut? I can't find it...

Thank you much for the help picklemonkey

#470395Post 12 of 31

sorry. I updated the instructions above.

Re: Downloading MS sets with Mozilla Firefox

I followed the instructions and tried to download again with no luck. I noticed that in options the block pop-ups was selected so I tried disabling it, but still wouldn't work.

Hope you still have some ideas, thanks again.

:?

I don't know what else to try. the steps i had you go through above would have given you a fresh, vanilla firefox configuration. it should've worked...

does it work with Internet Explorer? sounds like an issue with something outside of firefox... like your hosts file or something

Re: Downloading MS sets with Mozilla Firefox

Good call picklemonkey, is not working with IE neither :( . I guess I'm screwed...

#470758Post 16 of 31

Windows XP or 2000?

Re: Downloading MS sets with Mozilla Firefox

Did you maybe install Service Pack 2, a Norton Product or Google Toolbar or something like this recently? Sounds like the typical pop up blocker error to me....

#470849Post 18 of 31

those wouldn't force a localhost redirect with the popup :?

Re: Downloading MS sets with Mozilla Firefox

I'm using Windows XP SP1. I can't remember what was the last thing I installed but I?m pretty sure was not the Google tool bar (I had it before this started happening).

One thing I'm sure is that I tried downloading with Mozilla Firefox as soon as I installed it and couldn't do it.

In both cases (IE and Mozilla) the thing is that the pop-up never comes up. IE would refresh the page after typing the password and that?s all, whereas Mozilla would refresh but would say ?retrieving data from?? forever.

Thank guys for the help, hope something comes to your minds.

Best

Click your Start Menu and go to Run. Copy/paste this into the run box and press enter:

notepad c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

Copy/paste the contents of that file into here. don't save any changes to the file if it asks you to

But be aware that if you visit donkey porn pages we can see what you do from the entries in this file. :P

Re: Downloading MS sets with Mozilla Firefox

That's my neighbor's internet wireless service, any difference?

#471892Post 25 of 31

your neighbors?

127.0.0.1 loops back directly to your computer instead of going out to the network.

do you have the Google toolbar installed on Internet Explorer and on Firefox?

#471894Post 26 of 31

Re: Downloading MS sets with Mozilla Firefox

Both

#471897Post 27 of 31

Re: Downloading MS sets with Mozilla Firefox

Well IE for sure, Firefox has a Google look-up box that I'm not sure ifit's the same as theIE's toolbar

#471909Post 28 of 31

have you tried turning off the Google toolbar in IE before downloading your sets? Do you have Yahoo toolbar or any others installed?

Is this not the case about 99.9999999999999999% of the time? Yet everyone swears that it's not their firewall or that they don't have one!
